These days, the fruit gardens at the foot of Ngoan Muc Pass are always bustling with tourists. With a ticket price of 30,000 VND/person at the garden tourist spots, visitors will be immersed in the shade of the garden, have fun and experience "picking and eating on the spot" fresh, delicious fruits. Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Thanh, Lam Binh village, owner of Xuan Hung fruit garden with an area of nearly 2 hectares, is instructing tourists on how to plant and care for his garden. He said: This fruit growing area was formed more than 30 years ago. Currently, the garden has ancient durian trees that produce stable fruit and has a variety of ripe fruits such as rambutan, mangosteen, jackfruit, and green-skinned grapefruit to serve tourists. This year, the family's fruit output has decreased by 30% compared to previous years due to drought, but in return, the fruit prices in the market are stable, so it still brings in a good income for the family. In particular, durian costs from 40,000 to 70,000 VND/kg, mangosteen from 35,000 to 50,000 VND/kg, rambutan from 15,000 to 25,000 VND/kg. In particular, Lam Son fruits have been granted geographical indications and have a brand name, which has helped people feel secure in growing crops. Since then, we have always focused on garden care to create quality fruit products that are safe for health. In particular, durian is only harvested when the ripe fruit falls naturally, so its quality and flavor are favored by tourists and are always in a state of "out of stock".
Visitors enjoy the experience at the fruit garden.
While happily capturing the moment in the garden of ripe red rambutans, Ms. Tran Thi Bich Hong, a tourist from Da Lat City (Lam Dong), said: This is the first time the whole family has come to Ninh Thuan for tourism and on the way, the first place we stopped was to experience visiting this fruit garden. I was very impressed by the fresh and cool air here, with fruit trees that seem to only be found in the Southwest region. In particular, the fruits here are delicious, sweet and the prices are also very affordable. Among them, rambutan and mangosteen have a sweet taste, mixed with a little sourness; durian has a fragrant, fatty taste, not too strong, very different from the fruits grown in the places I have tried.
Currently, the whole Lam Son commune has about 30 households specializing in growing fruit trees and combining them with garden tourism. To bring a perfect experience to visitors, many garden owners have renovated their gardens, creating ecological landscapes so that visitors can have more experiences when visiting. Ms. Dang Thi My Lai, Lam Binh village, owner of Quang Lai fruit garden with an area of over 2 hectares, said: To make visitors more satisfied when visiting the garden, my family has renovated ecological water tanks to make the garden more lively, built rest huts in the garden, and built a swimming pool for visitors who want to experience swimming. If visitors have a need for food and drink, the family will prepare dishes according to their requests and reserve tables for visitors in the garden. At this time, the fruit season has begun, the garden attracts a lot of visitors every day, especially on weekends, the garden welcomes 300-400 visitors/day.
Comrade Truong Thi Thao Duyen, Vice Chairman of Lam Son Commune People's Committee, said: Currently, the commune has more than 500 hectares of fruit trees such as durian, mangosteen, rambutan, green-skinned grapefruit, jackfruit... In the past, fruits were often sold by garden owners to traders, but now many garden owners have focused on developing garden tour models, so fruits are mainly served to tourists right in the garden. To develop fruit gardens, local authorities regularly promote people to improve garden soil, and at the same time seek new sources of varieties to diversify crops, creating a green - clean - beautiful landscape to develop eco-tourism. In addition, they have mobilized households to donate land and expanded roads to fruit gardens in the villages of Lam Hoa, Lam Binh, Lam Quy and the area south of Sakai waterfall for tourists to travel conveniently.
With a cool climate and lush fruit trees, Lam Son commune invites visitors to the fruit tourism season in 2024. The sweet taste of the fruit and the hospitality of the people will bring visitors interesting experiences.
