Bank interest rates today, March 3, 2025, continue to witness the race to reduce deposit interest rates of banks after the drastic direction of the Prime Minister and the State Bank.
This morning (March 3), Kienlongbank, Eximbank and Viet A Bank simultaneously posted new deposit interest rates after continuing to lower deposit interest rates. These are the banks posting the highest deposit interest rates in the market in the first two months of the year.
According to the latest interest rate schedule applied by Kienlongbank , the interest rate for 13-36 month term is reduced by 0.2%/year, and for 60 month term is reduced by 0.1%/year. Meanwhile, the interest rate for 1-12 month term is kept unchanged.
With the adjustment of interest rates from March, the online interest rates for individual customers at Kienlongbank are listed as follows: 1-4 month term, interest rate 4.1%/year; 5 month term, 4.3%/year; 6-9 month term, 5.4%/year; 10-11 month term, 5.5%/year; 12 month term, highest interest rate is 5.7%/year.
Online deposit interest rate for 13-36 month term after reduction to 5.5%/year, 60 month term after reduction to 5.4%/year.
This is Kienlongbank's second consecutive interest rate cut in less than a week.
Previously, on February 26, the bank reduced the interest rate for 1-5 month and 10-11 month deposits by 0.2% per year; reduced the interest rate for 6-9 month and 12-24 month deposits by 0.4% per year; and sharply reduced the interest rate for 36 month deposits by 0.6% per year. Notably, Kienlongbank sharply reduced the interest rate for 60 month deposits by 0.7% per year.
Kienlongbank's reduction in savings interest rates took place in the context of the Prime Minister requesting the State Bank to immediately inspect and examine banks that increase deposit interest rates.
After a series of directives, most recently the Prime Minister requested strict handling of violations, especially credit institutions that compete unfairly on interest rates, not in accordance with regulations (both deposit and lending interest rates); strictly prohibiting and not allowing commercial banks to freely increase interest rates without direction, competing unfairly and unequally.
Previously, Kienlongbank increased its deposit interest rates twice in a row in January 2025, bringing the deposit interest rate at this bank to the highest level of 6.4%/year for a 60-month term; 6.3%/year for a 36-month term and 6.1%/year for a 12-24-month term. This interest rate was maintained by Kienlongbank from January 15 to February 27.
In addition to Kienlongbank, Eximbank was also the market leader in terms of deposit interest rates in January and February, but has now decreased sharply after three consecutive decreases.
This morning, deposit interest rates at Eximbank continued to decrease for 5-9 month terms, with a decrease of 0.1%/year.
Currently, the online interest rate for 6-9 month term deposits when customers deposit money on weekdays is 5.2%/year, on weekends is 5.4%/year (interest received at the end of the term).
From the highest mobilization interest rate of up to 6.8%/year, Eximbank has now reduced the highest mobilization interest rate to 6.1%/year with a term of 24-36 months.
This is still the highest deposit interest rate on the market today. In addition, Eximbank is also the only bank to list the ceiling interest rate for 3-5 month term deposits on weekends.
Also this morning, the highest deposit interest rate of 6.1%/year at Viet A Bank officially no longer exists after the bank reduced interest rates for terms from 12-36 months, with a reduction of 0.1%/year.
Accordingly, the latest online mobilization interest rate for 12-13 month terms is 5.7%/year; 15 month term is 5.9%/year; 18-24 month term interest rate officially lost the 6%/year mark to 5.9%/year, while the bank interest rate for 36 month term has dropped to 6%/year.
Viet A Bank keeps the interest rates for the remaining terms unchanged. The interest rate for 1-month term is 3.7%/year, for 2-month term is 3.9%/year, for 3-month term is 4%/year, and for 4-5-month term is 4.1%/year.
Viet A Bank lists savings interest rates for 6-8 month terms at 5.2%/year, while savings interest rates for 9-11 month terms are 5.4%/year.
