Expect to create new miracles

(CPV) - President To Lam emphasized that this is a great honor and responsibility, as well as an opportunity to, together with the Central Executive Committee, the Politburo, and the Secretariat, devote all our efforts and intelligence to serving the country and the people on the path that our Party and Uncle Ho have chosen.

Continuing the 7th session, on the morning of May 22, with 96.92% of delegates voting in favor (472/473), the National Assembly passed a resolution to elect comrade To Lam, Politburo member, Minister of Public Security to hold the position of President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam for the 2021-2026 term.

In his inaugural speech before the National Assembly, President To Lam respectfully thanked the National Assembly for electing him and entrusting him with the important responsibility of President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam; and respectfully thanked the Party Central Committee, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, and other Party and State leaders for their trust in recommending him to take on this noble responsibility.

“I am deeply aware that this is an honor, a great responsibility, and at the same time an opportunity to, together with the Central Executive Committee, the Politburo, and the Secretariat, devote all our efforts and intelligence to serving the country and the people on the path that our Party and Uncle Ho have chosen,” said the President.

Stating that under the wise, talented and sensitive leadership of the Party, the drastic participation of the entire political system, the joint efforts and consensus of the People, the support and assistance of international friends, our country has never had such a foundation, potential, prestige and international position as today, the President shared that these are extremely important premises for him to successfully fulfill the assigned responsibilities in the position of President, on the other hand, it also sets higher requirements and expectations in the new development stage to create new miracles for the goal of a rich people, a strong country, democracy, fairness and civilization.

Deeply aware of the great responsibility before the Party, the State and the People, the President promises to seriously and fully perform the duties and powers of the President as stipulated in the Constitution; actively carry out the tasks of domestic and foreign affairs, national defense and security of the country; together with the entire Party, the entire people, the entire army and organizations in the political system, promote to the highest level the spirit of "self-reliance, self-confidence, self-reliance, self-strengthening, national pride"; strive to successfully implement all policies and guidelines of the Party, first of all the Resolution of the 13th National Congress of the Party, strive to successfully complete the country's goal of 100 years under the leadership of the Party, 100 years of founding the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, turning our country into a developed country with high income, following the socialist orientation.

The President said that on the basis of steadfastly applying and creatively developing Marxism-Leninism, Ho Chi Minh Thought and the Party's renewal policy; independence, sovereignty, unity, territorial integrity, national and ethnic interests are paramount; happiness and prosperity of the people are foremost, we will closely coordinate with relevant agencies, focusing on effectively implementing the tasks of building and perfecting the law; building a socialist rule-of-law state of Vietnam of the people, by the people and for the people in the new period; creating a modern, effective, advanced and developed national governance; a professional, rule-of-law and modern administration and judiciary; signing international treaties in the name of the State; taking care to build, consolidate and promote the strength of the great national unity bloc associated with implementing social progress and justice, improving the quality of life and happiness of the people; Lead and organize, carry out practical and effective patriotic emulation movements associated with studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style.

Together with comrades in the Central Executive Committee, the Politburo, and the Secretariat, continue to improve the Party's leadership capacity, governing capacity, and fighting strength; resolutely and persistently fight against corruption and negativity, prevent and repel degradation, "self-evolution", and "self-transformation"; tighten the close relationship between the Party and the People; promote socialist democracy while consolidating order and discipline; focus on leading the building of an advanced Vietnamese culture imbued with national identity, truly an endogenous resource and driving force for development. Promote comprehensively and synchronously the process of national innovation and modernization. Resolutely and effectively implement the foreign policy of multilateralization and diversification of foreign relations, imbued with the diplomatic identity of "Vietnamese bamboo", proactively and actively integrate into the international community; closely combine the Party's foreign affairs with state diplomacy and people-to-people diplomacy; To promote to the fullest the strength of great national unity with the strength of the times, contributing to promoting and deepening the relationship between our country and other countries, especially neighboring countries, traditional friends and major countries; to maintain a peaceful and stable environment; to effectively, early and from afar handle all challenges to the task of defending the Fatherland; to continue to accumulate position and strength, and to consolidate Vietnam's role and position in world politics, the global economy and human civilization.

With the unity between “the Party’s will and the people’s heart”, combined with the determination and will to develop of the nation in the cause of building and firmly defending the socialist Fatherland of Vietnam; with the Party’s wisdom, mettle and correct, strong and wise decisions, and the support of the people, the President firmly believes that our country will develop more and more prosperously, our people will become more and more prosperous and happy, our nation will become more and more prosperous and everlasting, steadily moving towards socialism, successfully realizing the wishes of the great President Ho Chi Minh and the aspirations of the entire nation./.
