Many changes to accommodate the new program
Before the changes in the 2018 General Education Program with the first batch of students graduating under this program, parents and students sent questions about the method of constructing the 2025 Competency Assessment exam organized by the Ministry of Public Security to enroll students in schools under the Ministry.
According to the 2018 General Education Program, students can study 5 elective subjects in 3 groups of subjects: Social Sciences (including History, Geography, Economic and Legal Education), Natural Sciences (including Physics, Chemistry, Biology), and Technology and Arts (including Technology, Information Technology, Music, Fine Arts).
However, the structure of the Ministry of Public Security's Competency Assessment exam includes both Natural Sciences (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) and Social Sciences (History, Geography, Culture, Economics, Society).
Therefore, parents and students wonder that according to the new curriculum, candidates born in 2007 will not be able to study all the subjects in the exam and will not have enough knowledge to take the Ministry of Public Security's Competency Assessment exam if the exam is still implemented as in 2024.
Regarding the latest information about this exam, Lieutenant Colonel Ta Xuan Tung, Head of the Department of Content Management and Training Methods, Department of Training (Ministry of Public Security), said that the assessment exam for admission to People's Public Security schools in 2025 will be adjusted.
Specifically, the test consists of 3 parts: mandatory essay, mandatory multiple choice and optional multiple choice. Candidates take the test in 180 minutes, with a total score of 100. The mandatory essay part includes a social argumentation question with a maximum total score of 25.
The compulsory multiple choice test consists of 35 questions in Math (35 points), 10 questions in History (10 points), and 20 questions in Foreign Language (15 points). The optional multiple choice test consists of 15 questions (15 points). Candidates choose one of the following subjects: Physics (CA1), Chemistry (CA2), Biology (CA3), and Geography (CA4).
This structure is different from previous years, when candidates choose one of two exam codes, CA1 and CA2. The multiple choice part of the two codes is the same, testing knowledge of natural sciences, social sciences and foreign languages. The essay part of CA1 is Math, and CA2 is Literature.
Lieutenant Colonel Ta Xuan Tung said that this adjustment is to suit the first batch of candidates graduating under the 2018 General Education Program. About 70% of the test knowledge will be from grade 12, the rest will be from grade 10 and 11.
