A representative of the Ho Chi Minh City Committee for Overseas Vietnamese added that according to statistics, there are currently more than 6 million Vietnamese people living and working in 130 countries and territories around the world, of which more than 2.8 million overseas Vietnamese originate from or have connections to Ho Chi Minh City.

Over the past time, many suggestions, recommendations and solutions from many generations of overseas Vietnamese; among them, many experts, intellectuals and scientists have contributed, debated and discussed to propose effective solutions to contribute to the development of Ho Chi Minh City in particular and the country in general.

In addition, the amount of remittances sent back to help their families is also an important resource contributing to the overall development of the city. Over the past 30 years, the total amount of remittances transferred domestically has reached more than 200 billion USD, equivalent to the amount of foreign direct investment disbursement in the same period. In 2024 alone, the amount of remittances flowing to Vietnam is estimated at about 16 billion USD. Remittance turnover to Ho Chi Minh City is about 9.6 billion USD, accounting for about 60% of the total remittances in the country, an increase of about 140 million USD compared to 2023.

The NVNNN community always looks towards the country, ready to contribute all its capabilities and potentials. To promote socio-economic development, especially in the context of the city focusing on new areas such as green economy, digital transformation, high technology, etc., it is necessary to have more cooperation from overseas Vietnamese, especially talented and young human resources, belonging to the 2nd and 3rd generations living and studying in developed countries.
