Kien Giang announces results of awarding the title of Meritorious Artisan

On March 13, the Department of Culture and Sports of Kien Giang province said that the council had just held a meeting to review and evaluate the achievements and standards of 28 applications for the title of People's Artisan and Meritorious Artisan in the field of intangible cultural heritage in Kien Giang province.

As a result, the council voted to select 19 individuals to propose to the specialized council at the ministerial level to consider awarding the title of excellent artisan.

Specifically, there are 18 artisans in the field of folk performing arts (15 Southern amateur music; 2 performing Khmer traditional musical instruments and arts; 1 performing Khmer pentatonic musical instrument) and 1 artisan in the field of folk knowledge (folk art - Khmer pattern artisan).

Director of the Department of Culture and Sports of Kien Giang province Nguyen Van Sau said: “To ensure the process and procedures for awarding titles are in accordance with regulations, the Department of Culture and Sports (the standing body of the council) continues to widely announce the awarding results so that people can know and contribute their opinions until March 25. After that time, if there are no other opinions, the council will prepare documents and procedures to request the specialized council at the ministerial level to consider awarding the title of excellent artisan.”
