Summary of Spacetime episode 5

In Space and Time episode 5, the epidemic situation after the storm and flood is getting more and more complicated. The number of infected people is increasing rapidly, causing the local medical station to be overloaded. Doctor Mien suggests transferring some patients to the battalion medical station, but Lieutenant Colonel Le Nguyen Dai cannot decide on this on his own.

The weather was harsh, the transport infrastructure had not been repaired, and the area was isolated, making it difficult to wait for reinforcements. Lieutenant Colonel Dai asked for instructions from his superiors and decided to move Battalion 1, keeping the logistics and medical units, and giving up the barracks to receive and treat patients. Although this was a good solution, they still needed to wait for official instructions.

Meanwhile, people continued to come to the barracks. Due to the overload, the Battalion Commander had to limit the number of patients admitted. Knowing this, Regiment Commander Dai decided to open the gate to receive patients and held an emergency meeting to find a solution.

Doctor Thu assessed that the epidemic had spread widely. If patients were not gathered for treatment, the risk of community infection would be very high. Therefore, Lieutenant Colonel Dai decided to set up a temporary field hospital and assign clear tasks to fight the epidemic. He affirmed: “I will take full responsibility before the Party Committee, the Regiment Commander and my superiors.”

Following the order of the Regiment Commander, the establishment of the infirmary was carried out urgently. The 1st Company marched and set up camp outside, leaving the barracks for the people to treat. However, the biggest difficulty was the lack of medicine and medical supplies.

Not only that, some members of the team began to show signs of infection. Lieutenant Colonel Dai decided to isolate them in a separate area. At the same time, he sent groups to help people overcome the consequences of the storm and flood to stabilize their lives.

The weather continued to worsen. Dai decided to move the infected soldiers to the battalion infirmary. However, they did not want to leave because they were afraid of losing space for the locals to treat. The whole team was still trying their best under difficult circumstances.

Respecting his personal preferences, Dai agreed to let Linh choose the job. He chose to wash vegetables but was surprised when he was faced with a cart full of vegetables. His task was to clean everything in 1 hour and 30 minutes. This made some teammates gossip, some people mocked him. However, Linh still showed dissatisfaction and annoyance while doing the task and was shocked when he saw leeches clinging to his body. This attitude made Dai unhappy.

In another development, teacher Tam was anxious because she had to stay at the infirmary for treatment. She asked to go home to take care of her students but was not approved. When her health was stable, Tam asked to help take care of the patients and Dai agreed.
