On the evening of April 9, at the UNESCO headquarters (Paris, France), Bac Ninh province coordinated with the Vietnamese Delegation to UNESCO and the Vietnamese Cultural Center in France to organize the art program "Vietnam - Cultural quintessence and aspiration to rise up". Attending the art program were Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ngo Le Van; Ambassador Nguyen Thi Van Anh, Head of the Vietnamese Delegation to UNESCO, along with nearly 200 delegates who are Ambassadors of countries to UNESCO, leaders of French and international agencies and organizations, and a large number of Vietnamese expatriates in France.
The delegation of Bac Ninh province was led by comrade Le Xuan Loi, member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee. Also attending were comrades of the Provincial Party Standing Committee: Tran Thi Hang, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Ha Sy Tiep, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department.
Vietnam - Cultural quintessence and aspirations to rise in France
Located at the northeastern gateway of Hanoi, in the northern key economic region, Bac Ninh province has a long-standing historical and cultural tradition, a place where folk cultural treasures converge. Bac Ninh is known as the "Kingdom of festivals" with many types of rich folk cultural and artistic activities. Bac Ninh Quan Ho folk songs are a unique and distinctive art form among the folk performing forms of Vietnam. Over the past 15 years, Bac Ninh province has implemented many activities to fulfill its commitment to UNESCO in preserving and promoting the value of the Heritage, devoting many resources to introducing and promoting Bac Ninh Quan Ho folk songs to friends around the world...
Besides Quan Ho folk songs, Bac Ninh is also famous for a type of folk art called Dong Ho folk paintings, made entirely by hand and using natural materials. Realizing that this unique type of folk art is facing the risk of extinction, the Vietnamese Government decided to propose the making of Dong Ho folk paintings to be included in the List of Intangible Cultural Heritage in Need of Urgent Safeguarding for UNESCO to consider recognizing in 2025.
Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Xuan Loi delivered a welcoming speech to the art performance.
Speaking at the art performance "Vietnam - cultural quintessence and aspirations to rise", Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Xuan Loi sincerely thanked the presence of diplomats - who represent the cultures of countries, hoping to receive attention and support in promoting Vietnamese culture, especially Bac Ninh culture to international friends. "Let's build cultural bridges together, connect, spread, promote the image, traditional cultural values, attractive investment environment of Bac Ninh province to every land, every person in the world, contributing to strengthening friendship and cooperation between countries". Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Xuan Loi hopes to always receive your attention and support so that by 2025 "Dong Ho folk painting craft" will be included in the List of intangible cultural heritage in need of urgent protection of humanity".
Coming to the art program “Vietnam - cultural quintessence and aspirations to rise up”, delegates enjoyed the sweet and unique Bac Ninh folk songs; solo performances of the monochord; performances of Dong Ho folk painting, clay sculpture, calligraphy... Within the framework of the program, delegates were introduced and performed the art of painting. The works: Herding buffaloes and playing the flute, Vinh quy bai to, Vinh hoa, Phu quy... were unique in both content and color, both simple and rustic, and had profound educational and humanistic values, attracting the attending delegates with special love.
