Chinese Foreign Ministry talks about the significance of General Secretary and President Xi Jinping's visit

At a regular press conference on April 11, Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Lin Jian shared the main contents related to the State visit of General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping to Vietnam, Malaysia, and Cambodia, as well as China's expectations for developing relations with the three countries.

According to Mr. Lam Kiem, neighborly diplomacy is the priority direction of Chinese diplomacy; China and ASEAN are good neighbors, good friends, good partners. Recently, China successfully held the Central Neighborly Diplomacy Work Conference, clearly defining that the country will continue to adhere to neighborly diplomacy, friendly cooperation with neighboring countries, enhance mutual understanding and trust, and develop together in prosperity.

This is the first foreign trip of General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping this year, which is of great significance in promoting the development of relations with Vietnam, Malaysia, Cambodia as well as the overall China-ASEAN relationship, while creating new momentum for the peaceful development of the region and the world.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian stressed that China and Vietnam are two friendly neighbors following the path of socialism. Both countries are promoting reform and innovation in accordance with their own national conditions. Strengthening solidarity and cooperation is in line with the common interests of both sides.

In late 2023, General Secretary and President Xi Jinping paid a historic visit to Vietnam, bringing China-Vietnam relations towards a new chapter of the China-Vietnam Community of Shared Future of strategic significance.
