According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, currently (November 26), cold air has affected most of the Northeast region. In the Gulf of Tonkin, there are strong Northeast winds of level 6-7, gusting to level 8.
It is forecasted that today, cold air will continue to affect other places in the Northeast, North Central, Northwest and then to the Central Central. Northeast wind inland is strong at level 3-4, coastal areas at level 4-5. Due to the influence of cold air, the weather in the North and North Central regions will be cold.
The lowest temperature in this cold air mass in the North and North Central regions is commonly from 16-18 degrees, mountainous areas 12-14 degrees, high mountainous areas below 10 degrees.
In Hanoi area, the lowest temperature is 16-18 degrees; the highest is 20-22 degrees; during the day the sky is cloudy, sometimes light rain, cold; tonight, the temperature will drop sharply, tomorrow it will be significantly colder.
Mountainous areas such as Sa Pa and Mau Son may be colder, with temperatures dropping below 10 degrees.
The meteorological agency noted that the temperature has dropped sharply and it is cold. People going out should wear warm clothes and avoid sudden cold winds. They should drink warm water and keep their bodies healthy to avoid catching a cold.
This cold spell is expected to last 2-3 days.
At the same time, cold air will cause moderate rain, heavy rain, and locally very heavy rain and thunderstorms in the North and Central Central regions. Specifically, from today until tomorrow night, the area from Ha Tinh to Da Nang will have rainfall ranging from 100-200mm, locally over 300mm; in Thua Thien Hue alone, it will be from 150-250mm, locally over 500mm.
In Quang Nam and Quang Ngai areas, rainfall ranges from 70-150mm, locally over 300mm.
From tonight to tomorrow night, in Binh Dinh and Phu Yen, rainfall will be from 50-100mm, locally over 150mm.
Warning, during the day and night of November 28, the area from Quang Tri to Phu Yen will have moderate rain, heavy rain, locally very heavy rain with common rainfall from 30-70mm, locally over 100mm. During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts of wind.
Heavy rains can cause flooding in low-lying areas; flash floods in small rivers and streams, and landslides on steep slopes.
