On the morning of April 16, in Vinh City, the People's Committee of Nghe An province and the government of Ulyanovsk province (Russia) held an inauguration ceremony of the Lenin monument on the occasion of the 154th anniversary of VI Lenin's birth (April 22, 1870 - April 22, 2024).

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Bui Dinh Long - Vice Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee - emphasized that looking back at the history of diplomatic relations between the two countries, the strong friendship and good, long-term cooperation between the two countries and the two peoples of Vietnam and Russia were born by President Ho Chi Minh, laid the foundation and painstakingly cultivated and built for this relationship to become increasingly close, trustworthy, and achieve many great achievements in many aspects.
On the basis of that good friendship, since the 1990s, Nghe An province - the hometown of President Ho Chi Minh and Ulyanovsk province - the hometown of Lenin have established a friendly and cooperative relationship.
In 2017, the monument to President Ho Chi Minh was inaugurated in Ulyanovsk province.
This is a meaningful cultural project, a "red address" for every Vietnamese person living, studying and working in Russia to visit and remember Him, their homeland and roots.
"The Lenin statue in Vinh City is a cultural and artistic symbol, expressing the close and close affection that the people of the two provinces have for each other.
From these cultural diplomacy activities, the two provinces will be more closely connected in bilateral cooperation activities in the fields of investment, trade, health, education and training, tourism...", Mr. Long said.
Russian Ambassador to Vietnam - Mr. Gennady Stepanovich Bezdetko believes that the Lenin statue in Vinh City will become the next symbol of friendship and cooperation not only between Ulyanovsk province and Nghe An province but also between the people of Vietnam and Russia.

The location of the statue is in the center of the intersection between Lenin Avenue and Nguyen Phong Sac Street, Vinh City.
The entire cost of casting and transporting the Lenin statue from Russia to Vietnam was sponsored by the Ulyanovsk provincial government.
