Attending the meeting were comrade Le Hong Minh, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Deputy Head of the Provincial Traffic Safety Committee; Deputy Heads of the Provincial Traffic Safety Committee; Members of the Provincial Traffic Safety Committee; Yen Chau District Traffic Safety Committee.
At the meeting, the sectors reported. Brief information about the particularly serious traffic accident that occurred in the province as follows: At about 23:22 on February 21, 2025, at Km235+100 National Highway 6 in Thin village, Sap Vat commune, Yen Chau district, Son La province, a particularly serious traffic accident occurred between a passenger car with license plate 26F-009.08 going in the direction of Son La - Hanoi and a tractor with license plate 36C-095.93 pulling a semi-trailer with license plate 36R-004.73 going in the opposite direction. Consequences: The traffic accident killed 06 people and injured 09 people. 02 damaged vehicles blocked the entire road. Immediately after the incident, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee - Head of the Traffic Safety Committee of Son La province, leaders of the Provincial Police, Department of Transport, and Yen Chau district directly went to the scene to direct the work of overcoming the consequences of the accident.
At the meeting, the leaders of the Provincial Traffic Police Department proposed to the Provincial People's Committee: in the area of km235+100 on National Highway 6, the road markings and speed bumps must be repainted, convex mirrors installed, the curves widened, and the road surface roughness must be reinforced. Urgently fix 1 black spot on National Highway 6 and 113 locations with potential accident risks. Strengthen propaganda and guidance on safe driving skills for drivers participating in traffic in bad weather, fog, slippery conditions, etc. Strengthen patrolling, inspection and handling of violations in passenger transport business activities.
The Department of Transport recommends that functional sectors, districts, towns and cities continue to coordinate to review points where road traffic accidents often occur, points with potential for road traffic accidents, handle unreasonable sections in traffic organization through inner cities; steep passes; effects of weather, fog. Allocate funds to implement additional traffic safety systems... Continue to tighten passenger and freight transport business activities; strictly handle the responsibilities of transport business units and bus stations when allowing vehicles to leave the station that are past their use date, have expired inspection, carry more people than prescribed, are overloaded, or do not meet technical safety and environmental protection standards.
