On June 3, in response to World Environment Day and Environmental Action Month 2023, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee held the opening ceremony of the 3rd Green Living Festival 2023. The Green Living Festival took place on June 3 and 4 at Khanh Hoi Park Square, District 4.

Attending the festival were Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Ho Hai and Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Bui Xuan Cuong.
From early morning, many people brought old books, newspapers, plastic bottles, damaged batteries... to the booths to exchange for attractive gifts such as green trees, shower gel, shampoo...
Mr. Ha Van, living in District 4, after exchanging a stack of old newspapers for trees, happily said: "When I heard about this festival, I immediately gathered old newspapers in my house as well as my neighbors' to exchange for trees, to plant in front of my house to cool down. I think this festival is very meaningful, so it should be organized many times a year, so that people can raise awareness of preserving their living environment better."
Participating in this year's Green Living Festival are 47 booths of 32 organizations, units, and enterprises, introducing many environmentally friendly products and services, OCOP products and sustainable organic agricultural products, waste treatment and recycling technology, projects and programs on environmental protection, biodiversity conservation, climate change response, circular economic models, etc.
According to the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Ho Chi Minh City, the Green Living Festival is an event to introduce and promote environmentally friendly products, services, and technologies... so that the city's community can learn about sustainable consumption, environmentally friendly lifestyles, and participate in environmental protection activities, thereby contributing to promoting sustainable production and consumption.
At the opening ceremony, comrade Nguyen Ho Hai and comrade Bui Xuan Cuong awarded the 4th Ho Chi Minh City Environmental Award to 8 individuals and 20 groups; awarded prizes to 30 excellent works of the Contest for Building Clean - Green - Environmentally Friendly Works in Residential Areas.
Speaking at the ceremony, comrade Bui Xuan Cuong said that the city always focuses on building a clean, green, and environmentally friendly Ho Chi Minh City associated with implementing the Environmental Pollution Reduction Program for the 2020-2030 period, Directive No. 19 of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee on the campaign for city residents not to litter on the streets and canals for a clean city and to reduce flooding.
To date, the city has 1,920 green, clean, and environmentally friendly buildings and works; 516 neighborhoods have been recognized as clean and beautiful residential areas. In order for environmental protection to achieve good results in the coming time, the city calls on every citizen and every business to continue to unite and join hands to maintain environmental hygiene, repel pollution caused by plastic waste with specific and practical solutions and initiatives in daily life, production and business activities of units.
Comrade Bui Xuan Cuong hopes that today's Green Living Festival as well as activities responding to the Month of Action for the Environment by localities and units in the city will spread widely. Practical actions to protect the environment, promote sustainable production and consumption, form an environmentally friendly lifestyle in the community, contributing to building a clean, green, environmentally friendly city.
