The congress has the theme "Building a strong and comprehensive Youth Union organization, expanding the solidarity front to gather young people to promote traditions, contribute youth energy; contribute to building a green, cultured, civilized and modern Capital".

Speaking at the opening of the Congress, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the City Youth Union, Chairman of the Vietnam Youth Union of Hanoi, term VII Nguyen Duc Tien said: With the consent of the City Party Committee, Hanoi People's Committee and the Central Committee of the Vietnam Youth Union, the 8th Congress of the Hanoi Youth Union, term 2024 - 2029 was held on October 14 and 15 at the Hanoi Children's Palace.

The Congress is a great festival of the capital's youth, an important forum - a place where the intelligence, emotions and enthusiasm of Hanoi's youth converge and shine with the task of evaluating the results of the implementation of the Resolution of the 7th Congress of Delegates of the Vietnam Youth Union of Hanoi; deciding on the goals, directions, tasks and solutions to innovate the work of the Union and the youth movement of the capital in the period of 2024 - 2029; negotiating and unanimously electing the Hanoi Youth Union Committee for the 8th term and the delegation to attend the 9th National Congress of Delegates of the Vietnam Youth Union.

Of the nearly 400 official delegates attending the congress, there were 245 male delegates (61.25%); 155 female delegates (38.75%). There were 20 ethnic minority delegates (5%). There were 9 religious delegates (2.25%). There were 232 party members (58%).

In the first session of the congress with the spirit of: Patriotism - pioneering - exemplary - solidarity - creativity - reaching out. The congress carried out the following contents: opening the "October Youth" camp; exhibition "Creative Youth"; consultation to elect the Presidium, the Secretariat of the Congress; discussion and contribution to the Congress documents; presentation and review report of the City Youth Union Committee, term VII; consultation to elect the City Youth Union Committee, term VIII; consultation to elect the Chairman of the City Youth Union Committee, term VIII...

At the first session, the Congress consulted and selected 69 people for the Committee of the Vietnam Youth Union of Hanoi City, term VIII, 2024 - 2029.

In which, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the City Youth Union, Chairman of the Vietnam Youth Union of Hanoi, term VII, Nguyen Duc Tien, was elected as Chairman of the Vietnam Youth Union of Hanoi, term VIII.
