The Capital Youth Volunteer Journey for Community Health is part of the Youth Journey series "Fueling Tradition - Contributing to the Future" launched by the Vietnam Youth Union (VYU) in Hanoi on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the Three Readiness Movement; 70th anniversary of the Capital Liberation Day (October 10, 1954 - October 10, 2024), towards welcoming the 8th Congress of the Vietnam Youth Union of Hanoi.

Within the framework of the program, more than 120 doctors and nurses from the Hanoi Young Physicians Association, Central Hospitals, and the Ministry of Public Security provided free medical examinations and screening tests for 1,200 people with the following categories: general internal examination, specialized examination of gastroenterology, cardiovascular, musculoskeletal and dermatological, ENT, ophthalmology, pediatrics, nutrition; ultrasound, electrocardiogram, blood sugar test, gift giving, and medicine distribution.

Nguyen Duc Tien, Standing Deputy Secretary of the City Youth Union, Chairman of the Vietnam Youth Union of Hanoi City, said that the Journey of Young Doctors of the Capital for Community Health in 2024 has now reached the finish line and exceeded the planned target.

The plan aims to examine, detect early and treat diseases, and give gifts to 10,000 people in the capital. After 29 trips to examine, give medicine, and give free gifts in districts, towns, and cities of Hanoi, more than 14,000 people were examined and given gifts; mobilized social resources to give more than 14,000 welfare gift bags to people and children worth more than 7.5 billion VND.

Within the framework of the program to welcome the Congress of the Vietnam Youth Union of Hanoi, on the morning of October 12, the Vietnam Youth Union of Hanoi coordinated with the Hanoi Youth Blood Donation Campaign and the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion to organize voluntary blood donation; collecting about 250 - 300 more units of blood to contribute to the voluntary blood donation journey of the Capital's Youth.

At the program, more than 1,200 people received free general health check-ups.

The journey is part of the series of activities "Youth journey to fuel tradition - contribute youth" organized in 2024. After 10 months of implementation, the City Youth Union - Association at all levels organized 180 mobile blood donation sessions in the city, collecting 84,494 units of blood, exceeding the target (the set target was to collect 60,000-70,000 units of blood). Of which, the blood mobilized from young people accounted for over 70%.

Thus, the two journeys with profound humanistic significance, promoting the spirit of shock and volunteerism of the team of young doctors, members, volunteers, and youth for community health all exceeded the target. These are meaningful results of members and youth of the Capital, practically welcoming and spreading the enthusiasm of the 8th Congress of Delegates of the Vietnam Youth Union of Hanoi, term 2024 - 2029; celebrating the 68th anniversary of the Traditional Day of the Vietnam Youth Union (October 15, 1956 - October 15, 2024).

At the summary meeting of the Capital Youth Volunteer Journey for Community Health 2024, Dr. Nguyen Trong Son, Vice President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Young Physicians Association, Vice President of the City Youth Union, President of the Hanoi Young Physicians Association, Head of the Social Work Department of Viet Duc Friendship Hospital said: This year's program took place with 30 volunteer journeys, providing practical medical support to more than 12,000 people.

"Each journey is not only a medical examination and treatment program, but also an opportunity for us to connect, listen and share. The smiles and words of thanks from the people have motivated the medical team to continue to accompany and contribute to the health of the people" - Dr. Nguyen Trong Son shared.

According to the Chairman of the Hanoi Young Physicians Association, challenges in public health still exist, so the medical team needs to continue to make efforts to meet the increasing needs of society; together build new, more creative programs to best serve the community.
