When will iPhone 15 be released?
The iPhone 15 will be available for pre-order a week later and will officially hit shelves on September 22, 2023. Some US carriers have banned their employees from taking leave on September 13 to prepare for the “major smartphone announcement.”
Additionally, the company may introduce the Watch Series 9, Apple Watch Ultra 2, iOS 17, and other new operating systems.
The iPhone 15 is expected to be the biggest update in three years. Previous major upgrades have been the iPhone 6 (2014), iPhone X (2017), and iPhone 12 (2020), which typically kickstarted major upgrade cycles thanks to new screens and designs.
Some upgrades on iPhone 15
The Pro models have a new Titanium body (replacing Stainless Steel) and slimmer bezels. The iPhone 15 Pro Max could have the slimmest bezels on the mobile market.
The Pro model has a screen bezel that is 1/3 thinner than the iPhone 14, a titanium frame that is lighter and more premium than current stainless steel, a better camera, a USB-C charging port, and a faster chip.
The manufacturer will replace the Ring/Silent Switch with a new "Action Button". Therefore, the new physical button is improved to provide more convenient functions such as turning on the flashlight, opening the camera application.
The Pro models use a USB Type C port instead of Lightning as before. This allows for faster data transfer and charging speeds. The standard versions will be limited to USB-C cable speeds of USB 2.0 (like Lightning).
The iPhone 15 and 15 Plus will use the A16 Bionic chipset, while the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max will be based on the new A17 chip. On the Pro model, Apple will add a new periscope lens for better optical zoom.
