Talking to Giao Thong Newspaper about the incident, Ms. Trinh Minh Thu (Ngoc Khanh, Ba Dinh, Hanoi, owner of Facebook account Trinh Thu) said that at 10:30 this morning, her son booked a Grabbike to travel from Me Tri Street to Mac Thai To Street.
When I arrived, I used my phone to pay the driver through his account. As soon as I finished transferring the money, I was about to say that the transfer was successful when the driver snatched my iPhone 15 and ran away.
"My son was quite shocked by the incident. When he first came to his senses, he didn't think the driver would be so reckless," said Ms. Thu.
According to Ms. Thu, her son had just returned from studying abroad and used a phone number from Singapore to book a car. Immediately after the incident, she reported it to Grab but only received a response from the automated system that due to the information security process, it could not provide or confirm information about whether this person was a Grab driver partner or not and asked me to check the area's cameras and report to the authorities. When there is information from the authorities, they will support and coordinate.
Because the phone was snatched, the family does not know the driver's information or the license plate number. We are reporting to the police for help in getting images from cameras in the area where the phone was snatched. We hope to find the driver's license plate number to clarify the matter.
"To avoid risks, my son booked a car through the App but an unexpected incident happened. I wrote this article with the hope of warning everyone to pay attention to reminding their children about safety measures when using public transport," said Ms. Thu.
Speaking with Giao Thong Newspaper, a representative of Grab Company Limited said that they have received information about the incident and are in the process of verifying the information and will respond when there are results.
