Although Apple has only released the beta version of iOS 18, information about the iOS 19 operating system to be released next year has been revealed.
Bloomberg sources confirm that Apple has begun development on next year's iOS 19, macOS 16, VisionOS 3, and watchOS 12 software versions. This seems early, as the final iOS 18 version is only expected to be released this fall.
iOS 19, internally codenamed Luck, has begun development |
iOS 19 is said to be internally codenamed Luck, while macOS 16 will be codenamed Cheer, watchOS 12 will be codenamed Nepali, and visionOS 3 will be codenamed Discovery. It is currently unclear what changes the developers plan to make in future updates.
In early June 2024, Apple launched the iOS 18 operating system with a series of new interface improvements and AI features. This is considered the most important update ever for the iPhone. Apple has now released the second beta version of this operating system to developers.
The first consumer public beta of iOS 18 will be available for download next month before Apple releases the first stable version in the fall, when the company launches the iPhone 16 series.
Notably, Apple has added its own artificial intelligence (AI) system to this update. Apple Intelligence includes a series of generative AI tools such as Image Playground, Writing Tools, and Genmoji. Apple Intelligence also integrates the biggest update ever for the virtual assistant Siri.
