Van Don District listens to opinions and recommendations of aquaculture households affected by storm No. 3

On the evening of September 12, the People's Committee of Van Don district held a conference to encourage and listen to opinions and recommendations from aquaculture establishments and households affected by storm No. 3. Also attending the conference were representatives of banks in the district.

Storm No. 3 (Yagi) has caused severe damage to aquaculture facilities and households in Van Don district. According to statistics up to this point, the total output of aquatic products in the district at harvest time has been damaged by about 32,112 tons, including: 25,638 tons of oysters, 636 tons of fish, and 5,840 tons of other seafood. In addition, it also caused damage to 2,000 hectares of oysters and 3,500 newly stocked fish cages. The total estimated damage to oysters is 1,353 billion VND; fish 533 billion VND; and other seafood 395 billion VND.

From the damages, aquaculture establishments and households in Van Don district proposed that the leaders of Van Don district People's Committee recommend to competent authorities to issue appropriate mechanisms and policies to support people, so that people have more motivation to reproduce as soon as possible; banks should postpone debts and create conditions for new loans for reproduction at the lowest interest rates for people; postpone, extend, and reduce tax collection for sea surface rental areas of cooperatives.

Currently, in some coastal areas, there is a situation of "looting", where people collect property that is not theirs at sea, leading to a loss of security and order. Therefore, households have petitioned the police to promptly implement preventive measures.

The leaders of Van Don district expressed their sympathy, understanding and sharing with the difficulties that the households in Van Don district are facing. From the recommendations of the people, the leaders of Van Don district seriously accepted and considered these to be sincere, accurate and suitable opinions in the current context. The district committed to always accompany the establishments and people in the sector to overcome the immediate difficulties; create the most favorable conditions to help people access preferential loans from banks.
