Lap Vo and Lai Vung districts are recognized as meeting new rural standards.

DTO - The Prime Minister has just signed Decisions 855/QD-TTg and 856/QD-TTg recognizing Lap Vo and Lai Vung districts of Dong Thap province as meeting new rural standards in 2023.

Recently, Lap Vo district has focused on implementing well the construction of rural roads and bridges.

Accordingly, the Prime Minister assigned the People's Committee of Dong Thap province to be responsible for announcing and rewarding according to regulations; directing the People's Committees of Lap Vo and Lai Vung districts to continue maintaining and improving the quality of criteria, focusing on production and environmental criteria to ensure sustainability in building new rural areas.

In the past time, Lap Vo district opened 23 vocational training classes for rural workers, of which 15 classes were trained by address, with 525 students and 8 classes were trained for rural workers, with 151 students; the rate of trained workers reached 76%, of which 57% were trained; 209/175 workers went to work abroad for a limited period, reaching 119.42% of the assigned target.

In 2023, Lap Vo district will implement many solutions to support the development of OCOP products. Currently, there are 41 OCOP products, including: 4 4-star products and 37 3-star products; the rate of population participating in health insurance reaches 95.27/95% of the target, according to the statistical yearbook, it reaches 87/86%; average income per capita reaches 63,763 million VND/person/year...

In Lai Vung district, in recent times, the locality has stepped up its tasks to change the face of the countryside, raising the material and spiritual enjoyment of the people. The whole district currently has 11/11 communes recognized by the Provincial People's Committee as meeting the NTM standards, of which 4 communes: Tan Duong, Tan Thanh, Vinh Thoi, Tan Phuoc meet the advanced NTM standards; the remaining communes meet from 8 to 16 advanced NTM criteria.

The district's sectors and levels focus on exploiting the local agricultural strengths. In particular, focusing on implementing the project on digital transformation of the agricultural sector, expanding the area applying traceability technology and growing area codes. Thanks to that, the crop structure has gradually shifted to high-value varieties; agricultural extension models are proving effective. The district also focuses on implementing policies and guidelines to support people in accessing knowledge, production techniques, market information, etc. to improve the efficiency of agricultural production.
