According to Decision No. 670/QD-TTg, Kien Giang Provincial People's Committee is responsible for announcing and rewarding according to regulations; directing An Minh District People's Committee to continue to maintain and improve the quality of criteria, focusing on economic and environmental criteria to ensure sustainability in new rural construction.

After more than 10 years of implementing the national target program on new rural construction, An Minh district has achieved many positive results. The face of the countryside has gradually changed, the landscape and environment are bright, green, clean and beautiful; the socio-economic infrastructure is increasingly developed, especially the rural traffic system has ensured that cars can reach the centers of all communes and towns.

Irrigation is increasingly invested in effectively, creating favorable conditions for production and transportation of goods, and many production models bring high profits to farmers.

People's income has been gradually raised; the average income per capita of the whole district reached 65.84 million VND/year, an increase of 44.01 million VND/person/year compared to when the program began; the material and spiritual life of the people has been increasingly improved.

The education system continues to develop in terms of scale, quantity and quality, achieving high results in universalizing preschool, primary and secondary education; the general education universalization program achieves good results.

People's health care is regularly concerned, all communes and towns have standard medical stations; the rate of households using hygienic water in the district reaches 99.92%, of which the rate of households using clean water reaches 45.57%; political security, order and social safety are maintained.

Up to now, in An Minh district, 10/10 communes have met new rural standards; 5 communes have met advanced new rural standards and Thu Muoi Mot town has met civilized urban standards.
