Specifically, during the period from January 26 to February 24, 2024 (ie December 16 to January 15), Tan Son Nhat airport welcomed 24,500 flights, mainly domestic with nearly 16,300 flights, an average of 817 flights/day; the peak was on the 9th day of Tet with 975 flights.

The total number of passengers passing through the airport is more than 3.8 million, with an average of more than 127,000 passengers per day. Domestic passengers account for the majority with more than 2.4 million passengers.

According to statistics, this year Tan Son Nhat airport has recovered and increased compared to last year as well as the time before the COVID-19 pandemic. Notably, the number of flights and international passengers increased by 35% compared to the same period in 2023.

In general, although the number of passengers and flights increased during Tet, thanks to careful preparation with many specific plans and scenarios, and synchronous coordination between the airport and Ho Chi Minh City forces, the situation was quite stable. After a few days of congestion in the departure area, the situation stabilized afterwards, even when the airport continuously broke new records in terms of passengers and flights.
