(Dan Tri) - More than 20,000 students will study at Vietnam's largest university village in Hoa Lac by the end of 2025.
The above information was given at the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the University of Technology, phase 1, under the project "Developing Vietnam's national universities - Hanoi National University sub-project", on December 24.
The project is built with a loan from the World Bank and domestic counterpart capital, expected to be completed in 13 months, providing study space for about 4,400 students.
According to the plan, around January 2025, the component items of the project "Developing Vietnam's national universities - Sub-project of Vietnam National University, Hanoi" (VNU) such as the Library & Digital Knowledge Center and the Interdisciplinary Research Institute area will start construction.

Responding to Dan Tri reporters this morning , Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Hieu, Vice President of VNU, said that after this building is completed, the total number of students studying in the VNU urban area in Hoa Lac by the end of 2025 is expected to be more than 20,000, including first-year students from all schools.
After more than 2 years of moving its headquarters to Hoa Lac, the VNU urban area - the largest university urban area in Vietnam - has a training scale of about 6,000 students studying in a centralized manner.
On December 10, the QS ranking organization announced the results of the world university rankings on sustainable development in 2025 for nearly 1,800 higher education institutions worldwide.
In this ranking, VNU ranked 325th in the world, up 456 places compared to last year's ranking.
Also in 2024, in the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings, taking the pioneering implementation of the 17 sustainable development goals of the United Nations as a criterion, VNU ranked 401-600, demonstrating its role in connecting the higher education environment with the social community.

In the 2024-2025 school year, VNU has 13 units recruiting full-time university students with 18,000 targets for 150 majors/training programs. Currently, this unit has not announced the admission method, but last year, VNU maintained 4 stable admission methods including: direct admission, priority admission and university preparation; considering the results of the 2024 high school graduation exam; considering the results of the competency assessment exam (HSA); considering other methods.
For high school graduation exam results, VNU announces the input quality assurance threshold after the Ministry of Education and Training announces the exam scores.
For HSA exam scores, candidates need to achieve a minimum of 80/150 points to be eligible for admission.
For the group of other methods, the input thresholds are specified as follows: A-Level from 60/100 points per subject, SAT from 1100/1600, ACT from 22/36, IELTS from 5.5, TOEFL iBT from 72, VSTEP 3-5 from B2, APT (ability assessment of Ho Chi Minh City National University) from 750/1200.
