The Director of Hanoi National University has just signed Decision No. 1399 on the establishment of the Institute of Semiconductors and Advanced Materials under the High Technology and Innovation Park.

The Institute of Semiconductors and Advanced Materials was established with the mission of researching, developing and applying semiconductor technologies and new materials to serve the electronics industry, high technology and related fields.

Associate Professor, Dr. Truong Ngoc Kiem, Director of the High Technology and Innovation Park, Hanoi National University, said that the Institute of Semiconductors and Advanced Materials focuses on highly applicable research directions, helping Vietnam catch up with global technology trends.

The Institute's operating model not only focuses on theoretical research but also builds an integrated ecosystem between research - application - training. This is where scientists inside and outside of Hanoi National University have an environment to develop research and bring research products to practice early according to market needs.

The Institute will focus on cutting-edge scientific research, developing core technologies in the production of semiconductor chips, advanced nanomaterials, new generation batteries, and smart sensors.

Not stopping at research and training, the Institute will be a place for practical application and innovative startups through the construction of laboratories, testing centers, supporting research groups to develop products, and start technology in the field of semiconductors and new materials at the Hanoi National University Urban Area in Hoa Lac.

Associate Professor Truong Ngoc Kiem shared that comprehensive research and development activities will be deployed to create an innovative ecosystem in the high-tech field, including: Scientific research; incubation, development, application and technology transfer; knowledge reception and transfer; consulting on building scientific research projects, market research; commercialization of research products, etc.
