By the evening of April 18, thunderstorms, tornadoes and heavy rains had caused more than 1,600 houses in many northern mountainous provinces to lose their roofs, have their roofs peeled off, become leaky and damaged...

Specifically, the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue of Cao Bang province said that storms and tornadoes have damaged the roofs of more than 800 houses in the districts of Trung Khanh, Quang Hoa, Nguyen Binh, Hoa An, Bao Lam, Cao Bang city, etc.

In addition to breaking and destroying 280 hectares of corn, 30 hectares of tobacco plants, nearly 1 hectare of acacia and bamboo forests, the storm also blew off the roofs of 2 schools: Nam Quang Kindergarten and Duc Hanh Primary School in Bao Lam district; 2 cultural houses, 1 pesticide warehouse...

On April 18, hundreds of houses in Cao Bang province had their roofs blown off.

According to information from the Standing Office of the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue of Bac Kan province, as of 5:00 p.m. on April 18, 576 houses were damaged, mainly with roofs blown off due to thunderstorms and tornadoes in the districts of Bach Thong (with up to 384 houses), Cho Moi, Na Ri, Cho Don, Ngan Son, Pac Nam, and Ba Be.

In Bac Kan province, more than 165 hectares of corn were broken, concentrated in Pac Nam, Bach Thong, Na Ri, Cho Don, Ba Be districts... along with 12 camps, 1 village cultural house, 1 school, 1 greenhouse with roof blown off and damaged. Total damage is estimated at about 5 billion VND.

In Lao Cai province, by the afternoon of April 18, authorities also counted 139 houses in Van Ban, Bao Yen, Bac Ha, Muong Khuong districts and Sa Pa town with their roofs blown off when the storm hit.

In addition, a cinnamon essential oil extraction factory in Xuan Hoa commune (Bao Yen district) had its roof blown off about ^1,000m2 , and the People's Committee headquarters of Tan Tien commune had its roof blown off ^15m2 (Bao Yen district).

Thunderstorms also caused 43.1 hectares of corn in Muong Khuong, Bao Yen, and Bac Ha districts of Lao Cai province to break and fall. The total estimated damage was about VND2,846 billion.

Information from Lai Chau province also said that the storm appeared in Sin Ho district, causing 117 houses in Chan Nua, Ta Ngao and Nam Cha communes to have their roofs blown off; the 35kV Noong Heo - Nam Han power line was broken, and electric poles were knocked down due to large trees falling into the grid; 5 cafeterias of Nam Cha Secondary School for Ethnic Minorities had their roofs blown off and were crooked.

As reported by SGGP, at noon on April 18, in Nam Cha commune (Sin Ho district, Lai Chau province), a boat capsized during a thunderstorm, causing 5 people to fall into the flooded area of Son La hydroelectric lake. Of these, 2 people are missing.
