As one of the communes and wards with the largest number of households supported in 2024, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Nghia Ninh Commune, Tran Thi Dung, said that in recent years, through policies and creative and specific actions, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the city has paid special attention to taking care of social security for the poor. In particular, entering 2025, implementing the key program, the construction of houses and support for livelihood production for poor households has been promptly deployed by the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the city. Nghia Ninh Commune is supported with 4 livelihoods and 1 house for poor households.
On that basis, the Commune Front coordinated with mass organizations to mobilize and contribute working days to complete the “Great Solidarity” house; create conditions for poor households to access livestock and crop farming techniques so that poor households have more motivation to produce effectively, increase income, improve their lives, and soon integrate into the community. From there, contributing to comprehensive poverty reduction in the locality.
In Duc Ninh Dong ward, the Front and mass organizations have just started building a "Great Solidarity" house for Mr. Hoang Van Khan (born in 1979, in Diem Thuong residential group). "Mr. Khan is single, sick and unable to work, and has been living with his brother for a long time. The newly built house with an area of over 55 square meters has a total support cost of 114 million VND from many sources. The union members and youth of the ward are willing to help with labor to reduce construction costs, complete the house soon, and ensure Mr. Hoang Van Khan has a stable life. Currently, in the ward, there is also a case of a poor household eligible for support to build a "Great Solidarity" house, but the procedures have not been completed yet, so the ward Front is trying to coordinate and urge this case to soon have a new house and stabilize their life", said Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Duc Ninh Dong ward Bui Thi Thu Ha.
As one of the 9 disadvantaged households in Bac Ly ward receiving livelihood support in 2025, Ms. Hoang Thi Ha in residential group 12 could not hide her emotions, joy and gratitude when receiving the support money. Ms. Ha said that with the money given, she will use it to increase production, grow more vegetables, increase the number of livestock to develop the family economy, stabilize and improve her life.
Up to now, the whole city has 8 households that have started to build and repair "Dai Doan Ket" houses (6 households building new houses, 2 households repairing). Each new house construction household is allocated 50 million VND by the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the city; the house repairing household is supported 25 million VND. 9 poor households have also received livelihood support with an amount of 5 million VND/household; the total funding for support in this period is nearly 400 million VND. |
Talking to us, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Dong Hoi City Nguyen Thi My Loi said: Promoting the strength of the great solidarity bloc of the people in caring for and helping poor and near-poor households with housing difficulties, contributing to the effective implementation of the movement "The whole country joins hands for the poor - No one is left behind" and the campaign "The whole people unite to build new rural areas and civilized urban areas", Dong Hoi City has mobilized many resources to focus on investment in construction to soon complete the "Great Solidarity" houses and support the livelihoods of poor households in 2025. Thereby, making efforts to achieve and exceed the annual sustainable poverty reduction target, striving for the city to have no poor or near-poor households.
Accordingly, to help poor and near-poor households build and repair dilapidated, seriously damaged and degraded houses, while promoting production development, creating jobs, increasing income, and improving the lives of poor and near-poor households to gradually overcome difficulties, since the beginning of 2025, the City Front at all levels has conducted reviews and assessments for each household. Through the survey, the whole city has 9 poor households receiving livelihood support, 15 poor and near-poor households receiving support to build and repair "Great Solidarity" houses (of which 13 households built new houses and 2 households repaired).
“In less than 3 months, many “Great Unity” houses have been repaired and newly built in the city, creating a great influence and strengthening the trust of cadres, party members and people of all walks of life. Up to now, the number of policy households eligible for housing support from the city has been reviewed and is relatively stable. In the first quarter of 2025 alone, the city has implemented over 50% of the year's support program. In the coming time, the city will continue to mobilize resources to support the completion of the construction of “Great Unity” houses so that poor and near-poor households in the area can all live in solid houses,” Ms. Nguyen Thi My Loi added.
