The price of live pigs in the North continued to decline sharply last week. According to records, localities such as Bac Giang, Phu Tho, Vinh Phuc have dropped to the lowest price in the country - only 66,000 VND/kg. Other provinces such as Hanoi, Hung Yen, Thai Binh and Nam Dinh also traded at 67,000 VND/kg.
Currently, the price of live pigs in the whole region fluctuates between 66,000 - 68,000 VND/kg. Compared to last week, this price has decreased by 4,000 - 6,000 VND/kg.

Specifically, provinces such as Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh are currently maintaining the price of 66,000 VND/kg, while Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh, Quang Nam are at 69,000 VND/kg.
Lam Dong, Ninh Thuan and Binh Thuan are the three localities that maintain the highest price in the region – 73,000 VND/kg. However, purchasing power is still quite cautious due to concerns about the epidemic and excess supply.

The South is currently the region with the highest pork price in the country, ranging from 72,000 - 77,000 VND/kg. Of which, Ca Mau continues to maintain the peak of 77,000 VND/kg; provinces such as Can Tho, Soc Trang, Kien Giang, Bac Lieu are hovering around 74,000 - 76,000 VND/kg.
Compared to last week, many provinces have slightly decreased by 3,000 - 5,000 VND/kg but there are no signs of a deep decrease because domestic consumption and export demand remain stable.
Review of pig price situation today March 31, 2025
The current price of live pigs is under pressure from both supply and demand. With the current price level, many experts predict that the price of live pigs in early April may continue to move sideways or decrease slightly, especially in areas with oversupply. The North is likely to reach 65,000 VND/kg, while the South can still maintain the price above 73,000 VND/kg thanks to demand from industrial parks and large distribution systems.
However, the market still faces many challenges. Inventory pressure, high feed prices and weak purchasing power continue to be factors that make it difficult for the market to improve in the short term. Although some food processing enterprises have started placing orders for the April 30 and May 1 holidays, this momentum is still not enough to create significant changes for the entire market.
In Thuan Thanh Town (Bac Ninh), African swine fever control is being actively implemented. To date, the total pig herd in the locality has reached more than 65,000 - the highest in the province. Although African swine fever appeared at the beginning of the year and caused 4 pigs to be destroyed, thanks to good control, the widespread spread has been prevented. However, the risk of re-outbreak still exists due to high livestock density and frequent transportation of live pigs.
To cope with this situation, Thuan Thanh Town has vaccinated more than 7,400 livestock and built disease-free livestock facilities at two large farms. Disinfection and disease surveillance have also been carried out synchronously throughout the area to ensure safety for the local pig farming industry.
