Scientific workshop "The 1975 Central Highlands Victory and half a century of building and developing Dak Lak"

On the morning of March 5, in Buon Ma Thuot City, the Ministry of National Defense coordinated with the Dak Lak Provincial Party Committee to organize a scientific conference with the theme: "The 1975 Central Highlands Victory and half a century of building and developing Dak Lak".

Attending the workshop were comrades: Senior Lieutenant General, Doctor Le Huy Vinh - Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Minister of National Defense; Nguyen Dinh Trung - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of Dak Lak Provincial Party Committee; Lieutenant General Truong Thien To - Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army; Pham Ngoc Nghi - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; leaders, former leaders of the Central Military Commission, Ministry of National Defense; veteran revolutionaries, Heroes of the People's Armed Forces; officers, historical witnesses, scientists, historians, researchers; leaders of relevant departments, branches and localities in the province.

The Central Highlands in general, and Dak Lak in particular, are particularly important strategic areas in terms of socio-economics, national defense, security and foreign affairs of the whole country. In the spring of 1975, under the leadership of the Politburo, the Party Central Committee, and the Central Military Commission, our army and people successfully carried out the Central Highlands Campaign, liberating the Central Highlands and a number of provinces in the South Central Coast. The victory of the Central Highlands Campaign broke the enemy's strategic position, created a strategic breakthrough, fundamentally changed the balance of power in our favor, and opened up the opportunity to develop the strategic offensive into the Spring 1975 General Offensive and Uprising on the entire southern battlefield, leading the resistance war against the US to save the country to complete victory.

The victory in the Central Highlands affirmed the strategic vision and the correct, timely and wise leadership and direction of the Politburo and the Party Central Committee; affirmed the strength of great national unity and the aspiration for peace and national reunification of the people in both the South and the North after more than two decades of steadfastness, perseverance and determination to fight.

Speaking at the workshop, Senior Lieutenant General Le Huy Vinh - Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Minister of National Defense emphasized that, promoting the spirit of the victory in the Central Highlands in 1975, right after the liberation day, the Party Committee, government and people of Dak Lak province started to heal the wounds of war, restore and develop the economy, and stabilize people's lives. Up to now, Dak Lak province has achieved many important achievements in the process of building a rich, civilized and unique homeland. Those events have left many valuable lessons of profound historical and practical value for the cause of building the Army, consolidating and strengthening national defense, security and protecting the Fatherland in the new situation.

At the workshop, comrade Nguyen Dinh Trung - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee affirmed that after half a century, the 1975 Central Highlands Victory and the Buon Ma Thuot Victory have always been the pride of the army and people of all ethnic groups in Buon Ma Thuot city, Dak Lak province and the people of the Central Highlands as well as the whole country; a source of encouragement, motivation and inspiration in educating revolutionary traditions for generations of cadres, soldiers of the armed forces and people to continue to fight selflessly for the independence and freedom of the nation, for the cause of building and defending the Fatherland today. The lessons learned from the 1975 Central Highlands Victory will continue to be studied and creatively applied to the new conditions of the task of defending the Fatherland, building a rich, civilized and unique Dak Lak province.

Within the framework of the workshop program, delegates focused on analyzing and discussing many thematic contents such as: The Central Highlands Campaign - Some things to remember and reflect on; The role of the main force in the Central Highlands Campaign - Some experiences in applying to build the current Army Corps; The art of diversionary tactics to create a position in the Central Highlands Campaign; Promoting the spirit of the Central Highlands Victory, Dak Lak province improves the quality of education and training to meet the requirements of socio-economic development; Promoting the spirit of the Central Highlands Victory, building a strong armed force of Military Region 5; Dak Lak after 50 years of liberation - Achievements in construction and development (1975 - 2025); Training high-quality human resources to create momentum for socio-economic development in the Central Highlands region today; Promoting the spirit of the Central Highlands Victory, building Buon Ma Thuot city to be worthy of becoming a central urban area of ​​the region; Buon Ma Thuot Victory - A preemptive strike against the Saigon government and army...

In addition, the Organizing Committee of the conference also received nearly 90 papers with rich content and good quality, which were edited and published into books. These are valuable research, propaganda, learning and educational documents on the history and summary of the war; recognizing the efforts, attempts and development achievements of the Party Committee, government and people of Dak Lak province over the past half century.

The scientific conference “The 1975 Central Highlands Victory and Half a Century of Building and Developing Dak Lak” is a meaningful and practical activity to affirm and deepen the stature and significance of the 1975 Central Highlands Victory in the resistance war against the US to save the country; find out the reasons for the victory, draw valuable lessons that can be applied in the current national construction and defense; highlight the achievements of the Party Committee, government and people of the Central Highlands provinces in general and Dak Lak province in particular after 50 years of healing the wounds of war, promoting the value of peace and the spirit of determination to fight and win of the 1975 Central Highlands Victory in the renovation process.

Through the Workshop, we aim to continue to promote the national cultural identity and potential advantages of the province, arouse the will and aspiration to rise up in the new era of the nation, build the strategic region of the Central Highlands and Dak Lak province to become increasingly rich and civilized; honor and pay tribute to the heroic martyrs who made the victory of the Central Highlands, contributed their blood and sweat to the cause of national liberation; continue to propagate and educate patriotism, national pride and self-respect for the young generation and the people of the whole country in general; officers and soldiers in the Vietnam People's Army in particular, contributing to the successful implementation of the two strategic tasks of building and defending the socialist Vietnamese Fatherland in the new situation.
