Attending the conference on behalf of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology were Professor Chau Van Minh, member of the Party Central Committee, President of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology. On behalf of the province, there were comrades: Tran Quoc Nam, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Tran Minh Luc, member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Nguyen Long Bien, member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; and representatives of relevant departments and branches.
Over 5 years of coordination between the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology and the Provincial People's Committee on science and technology, it has been implemented in many diverse forms, focusing on solving practical problems, associated with the socio-economic development process of the province. Thereby, of the 6 science and technology tasks implemented under the coordination program, up to now, 2 tasks have been accepted, 3 tasks are being implemented, 1 task has been approved for implementation in the period of 2024 - 2025. Among the achieved results, the most prominent are the Project "Developing Ninh Thuan to become the Renewable Energy Center of the whole country" implemented in the period of 2019 - 2020; "Research and development of a dossier for nomination of Ninh Thuan Biosphere Reserve, taking Nui Chua National Park as the core area" - this is the scientific basis for developing the dossier and was recognized by UNESCO as "Nui Chua Biosphere Reserve" in 2021.
Comrade Tran Quoc Nam, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee spoke at the conference.
Speaking at the Conference, Mr. Tran Quoc Nam, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee emphasized: Ninh Thuan has potential for sunshine and wind, favorable for developing renewable energy and has also set a goal of becoming one of the largest renewable energy and clean energy centers in the country in the coming time. Besides, the province also has the potential to develop marine economy, develop specific agriculture on the basis of high technology application. Ninh Thuan is aspiring to exploit its potential, promote its strengths from differences to achieve the goal of entering the group of fairly developed provinces in the country. Over the past 5 years, the coordination activities between the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology and the province on science and technology have been implemented in many diverse forms, through the Cooperation Program, mobilizing science and technology resources from the Vietnam Academy and the province, solving many practical problems from production and life in the locality, contributing to the overall development of the province. In order for the province's science, technology and innovation activities to continue to develop and truly become an important driving force for local socio-economic development, the province needs cooperation and support from science and technology units, scientists and experts nationwide, especially from leading science and technology agencies nationwide such as the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology.
Speaking at the conference, Professor Chau Van Minh, member of the Party Central Committee, President of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, said: In the coming period, the Institute wishes to cooperate with the province to build up the potential of science and technology, focusing on building and implementing a number of science and technology tasks in the province's strong technology fields such as: Energy industry, technology serving the development of agricultural sectors, biodiversity protection topics and solving challenges in natural disaster prevention, environmental protection in the context of global climate change; cooperate in training and fostering human resources for science and technology, prioritizing training and fostering highly qualified experts according to the province's requirements; exchange and update science and technology information, especially new technology trends applied in production, connecting and spreading applied research results to businesses in the province.
Professor Chau Van Minh, President of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology and Mr. Tran Quoc Nam, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, performed the signing ceremony of cooperation on science and technology for the period up to 2030.
Next, the conference listened to presentations from delegates from Institutes and Centers under the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology and leaders of provincial departments and branches on solutions to improve the effectiveness of cooperation between Ninh Thuan province and the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology; listened to the announcement of the content of the cooperation agreement on science and technology between the Provincial People's Committee and the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology for the period up to 2030.
