Parents agree, support and feel very happy because their children will have more knowledge about safe driving when Decree 151/2024/ND-CP takes effect from January 1, 2025.

Accordingly, Decree 151/2024/ND-CP stipulates the responsibilities of high schools and vocational training institutions: Organize students and their families to sign a commitment to comply with the provisions of the law on road traffic order and safety, including the following contents: students do not drive motorbikes when they do not meet the prescribed conditions, do not drive motorbikes (motorbikes under 50cc) when they have not completed the program on safe motorbike driving skills; students' families do not hand over vehicles to students to drive when they do not meet the prescribed conditions.

Thus, from January 1, 2025, when the Decree takes effect, students will only be allowed to drive motorbikes after completing a safe motorbike driving skills training program instructed and evaluated by the Traffic Police.

Parents agree with the decree that students are only allowed to drive motorbikes under 50cc.

Before the information that this Decree is about to be implemented, Ms. Nguyen Thu Huong (Hai Ba Trung District, Hanoi) said that she strongly supports this Decree. "Since last year, when my child entered grade 10, I bought a motorbike under 50cc for him to conveniently go to school. As a boy, and at the "incomplete, rebellious" age of showing off, I also felt nervous when handing over the motorbike to him. I was afraid that he would follow his friends and do wheelies, weave in and out, run red lights... He also violated traffic laws a few times by not wearing a helmet. I really want my child to learn traffic laws and be instructed in safe motorbike driving skills, but I don't know where to send him to learn. Therefore, when I learned that this Decree takes effect from January 1, 2025, I was very happy. My children will have the knowledge and skills to drive motorbikes safely and comply with traffic laws, so parents like us will feel more secure," Ms. Huong shared.

Like Ms. Huong, Ms. Phan Thanh Hien (Long Bien District, Hanoi) also supports the Decree that students are only allowed to drive motorbikes under 50cc when they have learned safe motorbike driving skills. "My 11th grade son is quite naughty. A few times when I went with him, I felt quite worried because he was speeding and driving recklessly. I also often remind him to drive carefully, but he often 'ignores'. Therefore, in the near future, when my son attends a safe motorbike driving skills training program organized by the school and instructed by the traffic police, I feel more secure. With proper training, my son will definitely have the knowledge and skills to drive safely and not violate road traffic laws," said Ms. Hien.

In addition, the decree also stipulates the responsibilities of students' families: Coordinate with relevant authorities to educate students about the law on road traffic order and safety, and guide students on safe motorbike driving skills; do not let children drive vehicles that do not meet the prescribed conditions; regularly remind children to fulfill their signed commitments and regularly exchange and grasp information with the school about students' compliance with the law on road traffic order and safety when participating in traffic.
