The first classical music concert organized by Toyota Vietnam in collaboration with the Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra (VNSO) in 1998 opened the journey of bringing classical music closer to the public. During 26 years of accompanying and contributing, Toyota Concert has been an annual meeting place for audiences to immerse themselves in classical music with international quality, a place for young musical talents to shine before the public, and a bridge for Toyota to carry out meaningful social contribution activities.
Continuing this mission, Toyota Concert 2024 will meet the audience again at Ho Guom Theater on August 3, 2024. This year, the audience will enjoy classic works including: Vltava by composer Bedrich Smetana, Piano Concerto A minor, Op.16 by composer Edvard Grieg and Symphony No. 8 in G major by composer Antonín Dvořák.
This year's works will bring listeners into the nature and landscape of 20th century Europe. Composer Mai Hanh (VNSO) shares about the works that will be performed in the upcoming concert with a lot of emotion.
The first theme of the Vltava will overwhelm the listener with the beauty of the music, will penetrate deep into the mind of the music lover by the way the arrangement and the harmony are closely intertwined, creating a feeling of passionate excitement that touches the heart of Smetana. When coming to the works of composer Edvard Grieg, the listener will clearly feel the Norwegian national spirit imbued in every melody, harmony and arrangement. He has many famous works introducing Norwegian folk songs and dances to the world such as the drama soundtrack/ Suite Peer Gynt, or Suite Holberg, ... and especially famous is the Piano Concerto A minor. In this piece of music, the listener can easily recognize the vitality of youth in the captivating melody, but still maintain the structure and form of the work tightly, the parts are delicately interwoven in a stable aesthetic stature. Throughout the three musical movements is a special innocence, youthfulness and freshness.
At the Toyota Concert 2024, to bring beautiful, emotional melodies while still ensuring technique to the public, we must mention the contribution of the talented conductor Honna Tetsuji, who has been attached to Vietnam, Vietnamese symphonic music and especially the Toyota Concert for many years. He has worked with Toyota and the Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra (VNSO) to create successful music nights in all provinces and cities across the country: Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Nha Trang, Can Tho,...
In particular, the 2024 Toyota Concert welcomes talented young piano soloist – Vo Minh Quang. The 17-year-old pianist is currently a piano performance major at Florida Gulf Coast University, where he is on a full scholarship under the tutelage of Dr. Michael Baron, Professor of Music and Head of the Keyboard Department at the Bower School of Music.

While studying in the US, Minh Quang was also very active and won many major awards, including being invited by the young pianist to perform in 2025 as a guest artist with the Tampa Bay Symphony Orchestra and the Southwest Florida Symphony Orchestra.
