Transnational organized crime is currently evolving in a complex and increasing manner on a global scale, and Vietnam is no exception. Human trafficking is identified by the United Nations as one of the most dangerous forms of organized crime globally. To effectively combat this type of crime, countries and governments need to have close and regular coordination.
Based on the above situation, the event in response to the World Day against Trafficking in Persons is organized to raise the community's sense of responsibility in recognizing the methods, tricks and harmful effects of human trafficking crimes; proactively preventing and actively participating in preventing this type of crime and contributing to building a clean and healthy living environment.

Also attending the event were representatives of agencies under the Vietnamese Government, the Vietnam Women's Union, the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, the British Embassy in Hanoi, agencies under the United Nations, embassies and international organizations; along with teachers, staff and students from 4 schools in Tuyen Quang province.
Within the framework of the event, the Propaganda Contest on preventing and combating human trafficking and illegal migration took place with the participation of teams from 4 schools: Tuyen Quang Technical and Technology Vocational College, Tan Trao University, Ham Yen District Secondary and High School for Ethnic Minorities and Tuyen Quang Province Boarding High School for Ethnic Minorities.

The aim of the contest is to raise awareness among students, who are easily exposed to and affected by human trafficking crimes. Notably, Miss Universe Vietnam 2017 H'hen Nie and singer Phan Manh Quynh joined the event with more than 500 students to enthusiastically cheer for the 4 teams.
After passing the three rounds of Introduction, Knowledge Test and Eloquence, the team from Tuyen Quang Technical and Technology Vocational College won the overall victory. Second prize went to Tan Trao University; and Ham Yen District Ethnic Boarding Secondary School and High School and Tuyen Quang Province Ethnic Boarding High School finished with third prize.
The teams excellently demonstrated their knowledge on the topic of preventing human trafficking and made a strong impression on the judges.

Speaking at the event, Ms. Rebecca Taylor, Immigration and Migration Section, British Embassy in Hanoi emphasized: “Preventing irregular migration and human trafficking is a top priority for the British Government. We are committed to working closely with the Vietnamese Government to prevent and combat human trafficking through capacity building, awareness raising, information sharing, criminal prosecution and protection of vulnerable people."
The UK side "wants to spread the message about the risks of illegal migration and carefully consider migration options to ensure the interests of each individual as well as the future of each family".
The British Embassy in Hanoi's co-organisation of this event also demonstrates the British Government's commitment to working with the Vietnamese Government to gradually eliminate human trafficking.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Nguyen Viet Hung, Deputy Director of the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs of Tuyen Quang province emphasized: "To continue to prevent and repel crimes of human trafficking and illegal migration, it is necessary to promote communication activities, information sharing, and raise awareness among sectors, levels, socio-political organizations and people".
The province "wants to continue to coordinate with the British Embassy in Hanoi and embassies of other countries, and non-governmental organizations in raising public awareness, especially among youth, students, and pupils."
● The United Nations has identified human trafficking as one of the four most dangerous crimes in the world and included it in the Global Crime Prevention Program since 2013, as well as choosing July 30 as the World Day against Trafficking in Persons. ● The theme for World Day against Trafficking in Persons 2024 is “No child left behind in the fight against trafficking in persons” ● On May 10, 2016, the Prime Minister issued a decision to designate July 30 every year as National Day for Prevention and Combat of Human Trafficking. ● Since 2016, Steering Committee 138/CP has chaired activities to celebrate the National Day for Prevention and Combat of Human Trafficking on July 30 to promote the combined strength of the entire political system and the entire population to participate in preventing, stopping, and eventually repelling human trafficking crimes. ● The event in response to World Day against Trafficking in Persons 2024 was held on June 18 at Tuyen Quang College of Technology and Engineering. |
