DNVN - In the keynote speech at the AWS Summit Washington DC 2024 held at the end of June 2024, Vice President of Global Public Sector, Amazon Web Services (AWS) Dave Levy emphasized the speed of innovation in artificial intelligence (AI) in the public sector.

Public sector leaders are looking to use generative AI to improve organizational efficiency and agility. However, public sector organizations face a number of challenges, including optimizing resources, meeting changing needs, improving patient care, personalizing educational experiences, and enhancing security.

To address these challenges, AWS is committed to helping public sector organizations unlock the potential of generative AI and other cloud technologies to make a positive impact on society.

According to Dave Levy, AWS Worldwide Public Sector Generative AI Impact initiative, a $50 million, two-year commitment to help public sector organizations accelerate innovation in generative AI.

This global initiative runs from June 26, 2024 to June 30, 2026, and benefits and resources include:

Additionally, Amazon is a member of the US Artificial Intelligence Safety Institute Consortium, a consortium founded by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). Amazon is contributing $5 million to support the development of tools and methodologies for organizations to use to assess the safety of their underlying models. AWS is also committed to supporting initiatives such as the AI for Changemakers Accelerator, led by Tech To The Rescue, which includes the Now Go Build CTO Fellowship program led by AWS CTO Werner Vogels.
