This is the first time I've seen Kim Sang-sik so angry.
The Vietnamese team will play Singapore again at 8:00 p.m. on December 29 in the second leg of the AFF Cup 2024 semi-finals. In the first leg, coach Kim Sang-sik and his team won 2-0 thanks to goals from Tien Linh and Xuan Son. This result gives the team a great chance to reach the final.
However, the Vietnamese team needs to be careful with penalty cards. According to the tournament regulations issued by the Southeast Asian Football Federation (AFF), if a player receives a yellow card in the group stage, the card will be erased when entering the semi-finals. However, the cards in the semi-finals will be counted towards the penalty, which can affect the player's chance of playing in the final.

The Vietnamese team had two players receive yellow cards in the first leg against Singapore, namely central defender Thanh Chung and... Coach Kim Sang-sik. Of which, Mr. Kim Sang-sik's yellow card was drawn by referee Ko Hyung-jin in the final minutes of the match, when the Korean coach reacted to the referee's decision to disallow Xuan Son's goal.
If he receives a yellow card in the second leg, coach Kim Sang-sik will be suspended from coaching in the final, because the penalty applies the same to both players and head coaches. Therefore, if Thanh Chung has to be careful with controversial situations, Mr. Kim must also restrain himself in arguing with the referee.
The Vietnamese team has seen yellow cards from its head coach when Park Hang-seo was still in charge. In the final of the 30th SEA Games, Coach Park Hang-seo received a direct red card due to his violent reaction to a tackle by an Indonesian U.22 player on Vietnam U.22. After that, Coach Park Hang-seo had to serve a suspension from coaching.
