According to the Korea Times, South Korean Prime Minister Han Duck-soo said that the government will support domestic pharmaceutical companies to develop at least two new high-value drugs that can generate revenue of more than 1,000 billion won (768 million USD) by 2027.
“Through the Bio-Health Innovation Committee, we will facilitate fundamental changes that can be felt by participants in the field, so that Korea can emerge as a pharmaceutical powerhouse,” Prime Minister Han Duck-soo emphasized.
The committee, which includes heads of government agencies and private sector experts, is chaired by Prime Minister Han Duck-soo and Seoul National University Hospital Director Kim Young-tae as vice chair. The structure is intended to ensure that innovative ideas from the private sector can be presented and discussed, thereby facilitating active private-sector-centered meetings.
