While chasing the criminal, Lieutenant Colonel Truong Cong Cuong (born 1985), Deputy Team Leader and Major Nguyen Van Hung (born 1986) were seriously stabbed by the subject.
On June 9, news from Gia Lai Provincial Police said that while pursuing a criminal, Lieutenant Colonel Truong Cong Cuong (born in 1985), Deputy Team Leader, and Major Nguyen Van Hung (born in 1986), officers of the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department of Gia Lai Provincial Police, were suddenly stabbed repeatedly by a person with a knife hidden in their person, injuring Major Hung and Lieutenant Colonel Cuong and requiring emergency hospitalization. Comrade Hung was seriously injured, underwent surgery, and is now out of danger, while Comrade Cuong's health is temporarily stable.
Previously, at around 2:00 p.m. on June 7, 2024, in village 2, Chu A commune, Pleiku city, while chasing and arresting Ho Van Tinh (born 2002), residing in village 3, An Phu commune, Pleiku city, for illegally storing drugs, the subject suddenly pulled out a knife he had hidden on his person and stabbed him repeatedly, injuring Major Hung and Lieutenant Colonel Cuong.

Ho Van Tinh was arrested after 2 hours on the run.
Upon receiving the news, Colonel Duong Van Long - Deputy Director, Head of the Investigation Police Agency of Gia Lai Provincial Police immediately arrived at the scene, directed the Criminal Police Department of the Provincial Police to preside over and coordinate with the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department of the Provincial Police and Pleiku City Police to focus on deploying forces and arresting the subject.
At around 5 p.m. the same day, the police force arrested Ho Van Tinh while he was hiding in a coffee plantation of local people in village 2, Chu A; confiscated 2 small plastic bags (containing a white solid substance, suspected to be drugs). The police are currently continuing to investigate the case and strictly handle it according to the provisions of the law.
