On the morning of September 30, information from Gia Lai Provincial Police said that the unit had received a thank you letter from the family of Phan Minh Thang (20 years old, residing in Ha Long 2 village, Kdang commune, Dak Doa district) - a person trapped in the fast-flowing water on the Ayun River and rescued on September 24.

In the thank you letter, Ms. Dang Ngoc Chi (residing in Ha Long 2 village, Kdang commune, Dak Doa district; cousin of Mr. Thang) wrote: "On behalf of the family, I would like to send my sincere thanks to the Board of Directors of Gia Lai Provincial Police, Mang Yang District Police, Dak Djrang Commune People's Committee, Dak Djrang Commune Police for being brave, not afraid of difficulties, regardless of danger with the spirit of forgetting oneself for the country, serving the people, promptly saving my brother, creating trust for the people in the police force".
Previously, on the afternoon of September 17, Mr. Phan Minh Thang went to the border area between Dak Djrang commune and Lo Pang commune (Mang Yang district) and saw two men fishing on the Ayun river, so he went closer to see. Because he was sleepy, Mr. Thang fell asleep. When he woke up, Mr. Thang found himself swept away by the water about 30-40m. After that, Mr. Thang grabbed onto a tree branch on the alluvial plain in the middle of the river and climbed up the tree to avoid being swept away by the water. When he saw some people passing by, Mr. Thang called for help, but because of the long distance, the rising river water, and the strong flow creating a loud sound, no one heard.
During his stay, he could only cling to trees on the sandbank and drink river water to survive. On the afternoon of September 24, a fisherman discovered Thang stuck on the sandbank and reported it to the police.
Upon receiving the news, Mang Yang District Police immediately deployed forces to the scene to organize rescue, and at the same time called the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department of the Provincial Police to support rescue forces and vehicles. As soon as he was brought to shore, Mr. Phan Minh Thang was taken to Mang Yang District Medical Center for examination and health care.
