The Ukrainian Air Force announced that Russian forces carried out a combined attack on a Ukrainian gas production facility in Poltava province on the night of February 10 and the morning of February 11.

Accordingly, Kyiv said Russia deployed 124 Shahed unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and 19 missiles of various types to attack Poltava and many other provinces across Ukraine. The Ukrainian military announced that it shot down 57 UAVs. The regions of Poltava, Chernihiv, Kharkiv and Cherkasy suffered damage from the attacks, Ukrainska Pravda reported.

“Almost all the missiles were aimed at Poltava,” Ukrainian Air Force spokesman Yurii Ihnat said, adding that some of the Russian missiles had hit their targets, although Ukrainian air defenses had also intercepted some. Explosions were heard in Poltava on the evening of February 10 and the area was hit again on the morning of February 11.

Ukraine’s Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko said Russia had once again targeted Ukraine’s energy infrastructure. The Russian attack also led to emergency power cuts in several regions of Ukraine. The Russian Defense Ministry said it had achieved its goals in attacks on Ukrainian energy facilities on February 11.

On the other hand, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine announced on February 11 that it had carried out a drone attack on an oil depot in Russia’s Saratov region. According to the Kyiv Post , the Ukrainian military said the depot produced more than 20 types of oil products and supported Russia’s campaign in Ukraine. In an update on February 11, Kyiv claimed that Russia had lost more than 1,300 soldiers, 44 artillery systems and 132 UAVs within 24 hours.

Russia and Ukraine did not comment on their opponents' statements.

A production facility in Saratov was damaged by a Ukrainian drone attack, TASS news agency reported, citing the Russian Defense Ministry. Saratov Governor Roman Busargin said some train lines were also suspended due to technical problems. Russian air defense forces said they had shot down 40 Ukrainian drones, including 18 in Saratov.

In the Donbass region of eastern Ukraine, the Russian military has declared control of the city of Yasenove in Donetsk Oblast, about 25 km southwest of the strategic target of Pokrovsk. Russia has recently launched attacks and gradually taken control of areas adjacent to Pokrovsk. Ukrainian officials in Pokrovsk say this may be a tactic to create a pincer movement and isolate this strategic city, which is of logistical significance for operations in Donbass.

South Korea says North Korea sends more weapons, troops to support Russia

Yonhap news agency on February 11 quoted the South Korean Defense Ministry as saying that the Democratic People's Republic of Korea has sent about 200 long-range artillery pieces to Russia and may send more weapons and soldiers to support Moscow in its conflict with Ukraine.

South Korea's defense ministry added that Pyongyang also plans to double its weapons development capabilities this year, including submarines, spy satellites and intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs). Seoul has raised suspicions that North Korea may have provided military assistance to Russia in exchange for Moscow's advanced submarine and missile technology.

In late January, the head of Ukraine's Main Directorate of Defense Intelligence Kyrylo Budanov said that Pyongyang planned to transfer at least 150 KN-23 short-range ballistic missiles and artillery shells to Russia in 2025. He also said that information about North Korean soldiers withdrawing from the front line was incorrect.

In recent times, Ukraine said that North Korean soldiers have clashed with Ukrainian forces, especially in the Kursk region (Russia). South Korea's intelligence agency said that North Korea has sent about 11,000 soldiers to Russia, 300 of whom have been killed and 2,700 wounded.

Pyongyang and Moscow have not commented on reports that North Korean soldiers fighting in Ukraine are supporting Russia.

NATO exceeds Ukraine aid target

NATO members have spent more than $50 billion in security assistance for Ukraine, a NATO spokesman said on February 11. That figure exceeded the minimum target set by NATO at a summit last year of about $40 billion. NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte confirmed that the alliance had exceeded its target by providing more than $50 billion in assistance to Ukraine, a spokesman said. More than half of that came from European members and Canada, with the rest coming from the United States. NATO did not provide details on how the contributions were calculated.

The issue of supporting Ukraine and NATO defense spending is expected to be one of the most important topics at the meeting of NATO defense ministers on February 13, which will also be attended for the first time by new US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.

Ukrainian officials have urged Western partners to provide more and faster assistance, including air defense systems and ammunition. The issue of aid to Ukraine is facing major questions as US President Donald Trump takes office. AFP reported that US Vice President JD Vance could meet Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on February 14 on the sidelines of the Munich security conference in Germany.
