Hanoi: Parents outraged because preschool teachers beat children, 3 teachers fired

Ms. Duong Thi Ngoc Quynh, parent of child D.MK, who is studying in the Moon Reggio class at Einstein Academy Kindergarten located at building N02, New Horizon urban area, Hoang Mai district, Hanoi, has filed a complaint with the authorities about her child being beaten many times by a kindergarten teacher while attending school.

According to Ms. Quynh, from March 10 to 17, when coming home from school, her child showed signs of panic and did not want to study because the teacher beat her. At night, when going to bed, her child showed signs of panic and cried at night.

On March 19, Ms. Quynh went to Einstein Academy Kindergarten to talk with the teachers, but the teachers all confirmed that there was no beating of children.

Suspecting that the teacher was beating the child, on March 20, Ms. Quynh reported to the authorities and requested the school to extract the camera footage. After obtaining the data extracted from the school camera footage, Ms. Quynh was shocked to see that during the process of caring for and raising her child, the teacher repeatedly beat her child and other classmates on the back, head, and hands. According to Ms. Quynh, the consequence was that her child suffered psychological trauma and was very afraid of going to school, always saying that when he went to school, the teachers beat him very badly.

Speaking to Tien Phong reporter, Ms. Quynh indignantly said: “Today, we will take our child for a medical check-up because he keeps crying at night and is scared when it comes to going to school. We send our child to school and do not accept teacher abuse.”

Forced to fire 3 teachers

It is known that immediately afterwards, Einstein Academy Kindergarten reported the incident, admitting that the teachers had beaten the children.

According to the report of this kindergarten, on March 20, it was confirmed that the teacher had inappropriate behavior towards students.

To ensure objectivity and transparency, the school has decided to temporarily suspend the work of three teachers in charge of the Moon Reggio class: Le Thi Oanh, Tran Thi La, Nguyen Thi Thu, and coordinate with the authorities to verify and clarify the incident.

On March 21, after reviewing and finding violations by teachers such as using their hands to hit students' cheeks, shoulders, legs, arms (without leaving any traces)... during activities, the school decided to force the individuals involved to quit their jobs.

These teachers are currently continuing to work with the police to verify the incident.

On the school's side, immediately after the incident, the Board of Directors wanted to meet and apologize to the child and his family, and at the same time organize a meeting with the parents of the Moon Reggio class to clarify related information and commit to closely managing care and education activities to reassure parents.
