This is the third year that the Hanoi Concert has been held. The classic music event of classical music is led by the talented Japanese conductor Honna Tetsuji, together with the Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra.
The program opened with the epic poem " Hanoi People" by musician Nguyen Dinh Thi - a work always chosen as the opening highlight in the Hanoi Concert series - New Year Concert .
Singer Tuan Anh and the Vietnam Symphony Orchestra brought a heroic yet peaceful atmosphere, filled with love for the capital.
Next, the instrumental piece Happy New Year by musician Do Kien Cuong, written for orchestra based on Vietnamese folk music, was performed. The performance took the audience on a "train" of sound from the symphony orchestra traveling through the country from North to South through the folk melodies of the regions.
The famous song Ladies in Lavender , composed by British composer Nigel Hess in 2004 with a melody that blends romance and melancholy, captivated audiences through the film of the same name performed by People's Artist Bui Cong Duy and the Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of conductor Honna Tetsuji.
Waltz of the Flowers - Waltz of the Flowers from the second act of the ballet The Nutcracker - Nutcracker , a famous ballet composed by the famous Russian composer Tchaikovsky in 1892, also resonates with emotion.
The work depicts a magical garden where flowers dance together in shimmering light, bringing a springtime atmosphere throughout the auditorium.
The program also brought the audience to meet the Russian composer - Dmitri Shostakovich - one of the greatest composers of the 20th century with the music piece Festival Overture . With a combination of fast, heroic rhythms and exciting, enthusiastic nuances, this technically "difficult" Festival Overture is full of festive spirit, solemnity and energy.
Movement 4 of Symphony No. 5 - Fate - one of the most famous and popular classical music symphonies in the world by the great German composer Ludwig van Beethoven ends part 1 of the concert night.
People's Artist Bui Cong Duy with his familiar violin and Meritorious Artist Pham Khanh Ngoc with his captivating opera voice opened part 2 of the program with the work Inema Paradiso - a famous piece of music composed by Italian composer Ennio Morricone for the film of the same name directed by Giuseppe Tornatore, released in 1988.
The song tells a touching story of memories and love. Morricone's soulful, profound melody has touched the hearts of millions of audiences around the world as well as the audience at the concert at the Opera House.
Meritorious Artist Pham Khanh Ngoc then also performed a cheerful and energetic piece called Una voce poco fa from The Barber of Seville by Italian composer Gioachino Rossini.
With her charming, skillful and emotional voice, soprano Bao Yen and the orchestra performed a joyful and graceful excerpt of the aria Quel guardo il cavaliere by Italian opera composer Gaetano Donizetti.
Aria with beautiful, emotional melody and challenging vocal technique resounded on New Year's Day and truly conquered and captured the hearts of music lovers.
During the concert, for the first time, Hanoi Concert also introduced to the audience the German composer Richard Wagner, famous for his great operas. He is one of the most influential composers in the history of classical music, laying the foundation for modern music and inspiring many composers of the 20th century.
The Overture from Richard Wagner's Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg is one of the most classic operas. The Overture contains majestic melodies and is a tribute to German art and culture.
This piece is considered very difficult and challenging for the orchestra, and is rarely performed in Vietnam. Therefore, at the 2025 New Year Concert , this piece brought very memorable emotions to the audience who love classical music.
The indispensable melodies in the New Year's concert - the classics of Austrian composer Johann Strauss II - often called "the king of waltzes" - are also gifts that the concert gives to the audience such as: Kaiser-Walzer - The Emperor's Waltz, Tritsch-Tratsch Polka, The Blue Danube, The Blue Danube and Radetzky March...
