Kinhtedothi - The GRDP growth rate of the North Central and Central Coast regions is expected to reach about 7.6%, higher than the national average. Of which, tourism revenue will reach more than 237,000 billion VND.

On December 31, in Nha Trang City, Khanh Hoa Province, the 5th Conference of the Coordination Council of the North Central and Central Coast regions took place, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha - Chairman of the Coordination Council of the North Central and Central Coast regions.

Also attending were leaders of central ministries, departments and branches; leaders of provinces and cities in the North Central and Central Coast regions.

In his opening speech, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha said that the whole region has accelerated and made breakthroughs in completing socio-economic development targets, while streamlining the organizational apparatus and organizing Party Congresses at all levels, towards the 14th National Party Congress.

According to the Deputy Prime Minister, 2025 is the year of preparation and consolidation of fundamental factors, creating a premise for our country to confidently enter a new era - an era of national prosperity and prosperity, towards successfully implementing the goals of the 10-year Socio-Economic Development Strategy 2021-2030.

Therefore, there needs to be high determination, great efforts, drastic actions, promoting the spirit of daring to think, daring to do, daring to take responsibility for the common good, including members of the North Central and Central Coastal Councils.

At the conference, Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Duc Tam said that in 2024, the region's GRDP growth rate is expected to reach about 7.6%, higher than the national average, approximately reaching the target for the 2021-2030 period (average growth of 7-7.5%/year). The leading provinces are Thanh Hoa (12.16%) and Khanh Hoa (10.16%).

The economic scale of the region (GRDP at current prices) is estimated at over 1,765,000 billion VND; the economic structure of the region continues to shift towards increasing the proportion of industry - construction and services in GRDP. The estimated state budget revenue in the area of ​​14 localities in the region is 237,411 billion VND, an increase of 16.7% compared to the estimate assigned by the Prime Minister.

According to the general assessment, the economic growth in the 2022-2024 period of the whole region is forecast to reach the target of GRDP of about 7%/year on average. Indicators such as GRDP per capita, proportion of processing industry, budget revenue and expenditure, poverty reduction, and the rate of communes meeting new rural standards are expected to reach the target. However, some indicators such as import-export growth, total social investment capital, industrial-construction growth, and digital economy are still facing difficulties.

Tourism revenue over 237,000 billion VND

Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ho An Phong said that in 2024, the provinces in the region welcomed about 96 million visitors. Of which, there were more than 78.5 million domestic visitors and about 17.52 million international visitors. The region's total tourism revenue reached VND237,000 billion, accounting for 28.3% of Vietnam's total tourism revenue, higher than the average of the 6 regions.

According to Deputy Minister Ho An Phong, in recent times, tourism has developed strongly, gradually becoming a key economic sector, contributing significantly to the transformation of growth models in localities in the region.

In particular, domestic tourists from all over the country concentrated in the North Central and Central Coast regions, accounting for 71%. Da Nang, Quang Nam and Khanh Hoa continued to be the leading localities in the region in terms of international arrivals. Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Quang Binh, Binh Dinh and Binh Thuan recorded significant growth in domestic tourists.

Localities in the region have organized many important activities in the past year. Notably, the first International Conference on Rural Tourism of the United Nations Tourism Organization was successfully held in Hoi An - Quang Nam in early December, with 300 international delegates from 50 countries and territories. Khanh Hoa also successfully organized the Nha Trang Bay of Light Festival, together with Da Nang, organized the International Fireworks Festival, creating a strong impression on tourists.

Although the region has achieved many important results in tourism, Deputy Minister Ho An Phong said that the linkage models in the past have been narrow in scope, the linkage fields are sometimes spontaneous and unsustainable in the current context. The whole region has not yet built a common tourism brand, as well as unique regional tourism products.

Deputy Minister Ho An Phong suggested that localities in the region should pay attention to developing tourism associated with cultural industry. Cultural industry includes many fields such as cultural tourism, performing arts, cinema... in line with the strengths of the North Central and Central Coast regions.

At the Conference, leaders of ministries, branches and localities also reported on the results of implementing the tasks of regional coordination and linkage in 2024, the plan for 2025 and a number of solutions to create new momentum, promote double-digit growth; strong solutions to apply technology to develop tourism; solutions to develop clusters of linkages in the marine economic sector...

Concluding the Conference on the tasks for 2025, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha requested ministries, branches and localities in the region to continue organizing regional linkages and promoting regional economic development; strongly promoting the role of regional coordination councils.

At the same time, effectively implement the Politburo's Resolution on socio-economic development and ensuring national defense and security in the North Central and Central Coast regions to 2030, with a vision to 2045.
