(NLDO) - In Gia Lai, another well was discovered to erupt dozens of meters above ground, even pushing away the concrete piles that were driven in.
On December 13, the water well at Mr. Bui Van Tu's coffee plantation (Hung Tien village, Ia Phin commune, Chu Prong district, Gia Lai province) continued to spurt strongly from the ground, mixing with gas to form a column tens of meters high.
On the afternoon of 5 days ago, Mr. Tu hired someone to drill a well in his family's coffee garden for irrigation and daily use. When the drill reached a depth of 90 meters, water suddenly gushed up from below, along with air bubbles. After that, Mr. Tu's family tried to use concrete piles to cover the well. However, due to the strong pressure, the pile weighing hundreds of kilograms was pushed back up.
Mr. Dao Quang Binh, Chairman of Ia Phin Commune People's Committee, said that after receiving the information, the commune coordinated with relevant units to disseminate regulations on the exploitation and use of underground water to households. At the same time, a report was sent to Chu Prong District People's Committee about the phenomenon of water wells gushing out of the ground above.
Previously, at the end of July, from the old well, Mr. Dam Xuan Hoa's family drilled further to a depth of 186m and also encountered the phenomenon of water and gas mixture spraying more than 10m above the ground. The National Center for Water Resources Planning and Investigation inspected and determined that the amount of water and gas mixture spraying high from the mouth of the borehole had a flow rate of about 0.2 - 0.3 liters/s.
The well erupted very strongly and could not be filled with concrete piles.
Gas spontaneously erupts to the surface, possibly due to drilling reaching the depth of a gas pocket. The water in the gas-water mixture may be associated with the field or borehole water in the upper part of the gas field.
Analysis of water samples shows that the water quality is quite good, most of the analyzed parameters are within the standard limit values.
