Cheating in the exam, Deputy of VFF Referee Board Vo Quang Vinh was severely disciplined

VTC News sources said that the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) term IX unanimously dismissed Vo Quang Vinh, Deputy Head of the Referee Board. Mr. Vinh was elected as Deputy Head of the Referee Board from 2023.

VFF clearly identified the reason for disciplining Mr. Vo Quang Vinh as a violation during the physical fitness test of female FIFA referees including Ms. Tran Thi Thanh, Ms. Le Thi Ly and Ms. Bui Thi Thu Trang. Instead of organizing the test according to the requirements (running 40 meters 6 times at speed), Mr. Vinh only allowed the referee to run 40 meters 4 times.

This action is considered a serious violation in the work of inspecting and managing referees, affecting the reputation of VFF. The Executive Committee proposed to transfer Mr. Vinh's case to the Disciplinary Committee to consider the necessary disciplinary level in the coming time.

At the same time, VFF also received proposals from clubs regarding a replacement for Mr. Vo Quang Vinh.

The VFF Standing Committee agreed that the replacement for the positions in the Referee Board must have good professional qualifications, not have systematic errors, or errors related to negative events in the past. Based on this criterion, the professional board must find the right person.

The 2024/25 season witnessed a series of serious errors by referees from V.League to youth tournaments. FIFA referee Le Vu Linh alone was suspended twice in a short period of time.

Mr. Linh gave a yellow card to Giap Tuan Duong when the defender took down a Binh Duong player. The Disciplinary Board then fined Tuan Duong and Mr. Linh was not allowed to perform his duties in the next two rounds.

In the match between Ho Chi Minh City and Thanh Hoa, Mr. Le Vu Linh ignored many mistakes of the home team Ho Chi Minh City players, wrongly giving a red card to coach Popov. At the same time, this man in black also blatantly ignored the penalty awarded to the Thanh Hoa team.

VFF later had to admit Mr. Linh's mistake but only said that "it will remove him from duty".
