Playing away at The Cong - Viettel Stadium, HAGL played more confidently and proactively in the first half. The team under the guidance of coach Le Quang Trai created a number of dangerous opportunities, including the situation where Tran Minh Vuong put the ball into the net of the army team in the 28th minute but the goal was not recognized.

In the second half, HAGL continued to have more chances but the attacking players all missed them unluckily. When they could not score, the mountain town team was inevitably hit by a counterattack from The Cong - Viettel.

In the 64th minute, Khuat Van Khang (The Cong - Viettel) finished with one touch after an accurate pass with his teammate. Khang's shot went very quickly through the legs of goalkeeper Tran Trung Kien, leaving the young goalkeeper no time to react, opening the score for the match.

After conceding the goal, The Cong - Viettel played solidly, making it difficult for HAGL to find an equalizer. When the away team's spirit was at its lowest, Coach Nguyen Duc Thang's students finished off HAGL with a goal in extra time.

In the 90+8 minute, Nham Manh Dung crossed for substitute Tran Danh Trung to tap the ball in, sealing a 2-0 victory for The Cong - Viettel. HAGL once again had no luck with the National Cup, having never won the championship of this tournament in history.

With The Cong - Viettel, coach Duc Thang's team entered the semi-finals and waited for one of the opponents, Cong An Ha Noi or Hai Phong.
