"After the recent event, the My Dinh stadium today was really bad, affecting both teams. Because the stadium was bad, we had to change our tactics. Controlling the ball on the rough pitch was really difficult," coach Nguyen Duc Thang of The Cong - Viettel shared at the press conference after the match.
He continued: "We anticipated the incident and prepared a backup plan for the match before the match, plus we took advantage of the opportunities better, so we won."
At My Dinh Stadium, The Cong - Viettel defeated HAGL 2-0 and advanced to the semi-finals of the National Cup. The team will face one of two opponents, Cong An Ha Noi or Hai Phong, at the end of April.
For HAGL, not only did they lose and get eliminated, the bad pitch also caused the mountain town team to suffer a loss of personnel when Vietnam national team central defender Pham Ly Duc was seriously injured.

"Ly Duc and Dinh Lam were both injured due to the bad pitch. Lam had a slight pain but with Duc, I was informed by the doctors that he had a serious injury to his left knee. Duc was just tackling normally but the strong impact on the bad pitch caused him a serious injury," said head coach Le Quang Trai.
According to Tri Thuc - Znew s, the National Cup Organizing Committee - Vietnam Professional Football Joint Stock Company (VPF) despite knowing the bad condition of My Dinh Stadium still reluctantly let the match take place because there was no other option. After this match, The Cong Viettel will most likely still play home matches here according to the stadium rental contract. VPF and the army team are having a headache finding a solution if the grass cannot meet the standards.
