Today (February 11), the central exchange rate between the Vietnamese Dong and the USD continued to be adjusted to increase sharply, setting a new record.

The State Bank announced the central exchange rate between the Vietnamese Dong and the USD on February 11 at 24,522 VND/USD, an increase of 35 VND compared to the previous session. This is the highest level of the central exchange rate ever.

Over the past week, the central exchange rate has been continuously adjusted upward with a total increase of 197 VND.

With a margin of 5%, commercial banks are allowed to trade USD today with a ceiling rate of 25,748 VND/USD and a floor rate of 23,296 VND/USD.

The reference USD exchange rate at the State Bank of Vietnam today was adjusted after many months of maintaining at 23,400-25,450 VND/USD (buy - sell).

Accordingly, on the morning of February 11, the reference USD buying rate was adjusted to 23,346 VND/USD, down 54 VND/USD. Meanwhile, the reference USD selling rate was raised to 25,698 VND/USD, up 248 VND/USD.

At commercial banks, the USD price this morning recorded a significant increase in both buying and selling. The USD selling price at banks all exceeded 25,600 VND/USD, the highest level in history.

Compared to yesterday morning (February 10), the USD price this morning at Vietcombank increased by 90 VND in both buying and selling, raising the USD cash buying price to 25,260 VND/USD, and the selling price to 25,650 VND/USD.

Similarly, the USD price at BIDV also increased by 170 VND in both buying and selling prices, bringing the buying and selling prices to 25,300-25,660 VND/USD.

VietinBank also raised the USD buying and selling prices to 25,308-25,668 VND/USD, an increase of 98 VND in both directions.

USD prices at private commercial banks have also been adjusted to increase quite rapidly.

Techcombank increased 100 VND in buying price and 105 VND in selling price, listing the USD cash buying price at 25,292 VND/USD, selling price at 25,695 VND/USD.

Sacombank also raised the USD price to 25,280-25,690 VND/USD (buy - sell), 80 VND more expensive for buying and 110 VND more expensive for selling.

In line with the trend, the USD price in the free market today was also adjusted to increase rapidly. Foreign exchange points this morning traded USD in the price range of 25,670-25,760 VND/USD (buy - sell), an increase of 90 VND in the buying direction and 80 VND more expensive in the selling direction compared to the previous session.

Currently, the selling price of USD at banks is almost equal to the free market price, while the buying price of USD at banks is only about 400 VND lower.

Domestic USD prices increased rapidly in the context of the greenback price in the world remaining at a high level despite record gold prices.

The US Dollar Index (a measure of the greenback's strength against other major currencies) at 11:00 a.m. on February 11 (Vietnam time) was at 108.4 points, up 0.08% from the previous session.

The dollar rose after US President Donald Trump warned of more tariffs, including on steel and aluminum.

Mr. Trump announced plans to impose an additional 25% tariff on all steel and aluminum imported into the country as well as to impose corresponding retaliatory tariffs on other countries immediately.

China's retaliatory tariffs on some US exports also officially took effect yesterday.

Investors are worried about the future of the world economy as the global trade war spreads.

According to many analysts, the tariff war could increase inflation in the US, making it difficult for the US Federal Reserve (Fed) to further reduce interest rates.
