DNVN - On January 6, 2025, the price of live pigs in most localities across the country remained stable, except for some southern provinces with a slight increase.
Pig price in the North
On the morning of January 6, the Northern region recorded no change in live pig prices, fluctuating from 67,000 to 69,000 VND/kg.
Specifically, Hanoi and Bac Giang are currently leading with prices of 69,000 VND/kg. On the other hand, the lowest price of 67,000 VND/kg was recorded in Ninh Binh and Nam Dinh.
Pig price in Central Highlands
In the Central Highlands region, pig prices did not have any new adjustments during the day.
Lam Dong is currently the only province with the highest price in the region at VND69,000/kg. Other provinces in the region trade between VND66,000 and VND68,000/kg.
Pig price in the South
The Southern region continued to record slight price increases in Dong Thap and Long An, both reaching VND68,000/kg.
The general price of this region is between 66,000 and 69,000 VND/kg, with Dong Nai and Tay Ninh maintaining the highest price of 69,000 VND/kg.
According to experts, the price of live pigs is likely to continue to increase slightly in some localities, especially in the South, where the demand for pork consumption increases sharply before Tet. The Northern and Central Highlands regions are expected to keep prices stable or may increase slightly in some provinces due to increased demand for food processing.
It is forecasted that the price of live pigs nationwide will fluctuate from 65,000 to 70,000 VND/kg in the coming days, with the increasing trend concentrated in areas with high consumption such as the South and large cities.
In the first days of 2025, the live hog market continued to show positive signs when prices were stable or increased slightly in many localities. In the context of high consumption demand and no significant increase in supply, the price of live hogs is expected to maintain its upward momentum, bringing benefits to farmers and businesses during the Lunar New Year season.
Thai Nguyen tightens regulations on livestock farming in urban areas
According to the Resolution of the People's Council of Thai Nguyen province, areas where livestock and poultry farming is not allowed include wards, towns and residential areas in cities, towns and districts with a non-agricultural labor rate of 85% or more and a total non-agricultural land area accounting for at least 80% of the natural land area.
Livestock facilities in prohibited areas have up to five years to cease operations or relocate to a suitable location.
In Thai Nguyen City, there are currently 5 central wards that must stop raising livestock or relocate, including: Quang Trung, Dong Quang, Trung Vuong, Hoang Van Thu and Phan Dinh Phung.
Thai Nguyen City People's Committee has directed the People's Committees of wards to carry out statistics and make a specific list of affected livestock facilities, and at the same time coordinate propaganda and guide people to comply with regulations.
Through screening, in these 5 wards, there are a total of 247 households raising livestock with nearly 2,800 animals, including buffalo, cows, pigs and poultry. Localities have asked households to sign a commitment and develop a specific plan and solution to stop raising livestock or relocate within the prescribed time limit.
