In Tien Giang, the agricultural sector said the total pig herd in the province is currently around 312,000, an increase of more than 24,000, or 4%, over the same period last year, according to VNA. Districts with large pig herds include Go Cong Tay, Cho Gao, Cai Be and Tan Phu Dong.
To take advantage of the rising pork prices, farmers are making high profits. Localities are also encouraging farmers to gradually switch to farm models instead of small-scale farming to improve production efficiency.
Tien Giang is currently investing in high technology in livestock farming, encouraging the construction of cold barns and applying automation systems for feeding. These measures help increase production efficiency, while limiting environmental pollution and protecting public health.
According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Tien Giang, the locality is aiming for a biosafety livestock farming model and strictly controlling the source of breeding stock to ensure quality, helping the livestock industry develop sustainably and gradually reduce small-scale farming.
