In general, the live hog market across the country has continued to decline over the past week. According to a survey, the price fluctuates nationwide from 58,000 to 63,000 VND/kg, with the Central Highlands region having the lowest price.

According to experts' forecasts, pork prices are likely to continue to decrease due to abundant supply while demand has not shown any clear signs of increasing.

According to Long An Newspaper, many farms and livestock households in this province have been actively restocking and increasing their herds to prepare supply for the upcoming Lunar New Year market.

At the farm of Mr. Dinh Van Huy, Phuoc Tuy commune, Can Duoc district, Long An province, he has just sold more than 20 pigs and is re-herding with 30 pigs, of which 25 are expected to supply the market for the Lunar New Year of At Ty in 2025.

Mr. Huy shared that with the current price of pigs, each pig after sale can bring a profit of 1.5 - 1.7 million VND to the farmer.

Mr. Huy added that raising pigs for Tet faces cold, rainy and stormy weather, so disease prevention is always his top priority. Before restocking, he sprays disinfectant and thoroughly cleans the entire barn as well as farming equipment to reduce the risk of disease outbreaks.

“Currently, I am not worried about market prices but most worried about diseases, so disease prevention and biosecurity are always my top priorities. I disinfect the barn three times a week, regularly clean and bathe the pigs,” Huy affirmed.
