Pig price on November 11, 2024: Latest developments and forecasts on the pig market

DNVN - On November 11, 2024, the price of live pigs nationwide continued to remain stable on the first day of the week, with common prices ranging from 60,000 to 64,000 VND/kg.

Pig price in the North

In the Northern region on the morning of November 11, the price of live pigs remained stable, fluctuating between 62,000 and 64,000 VND/kg.

Lao Cai and Ninh Binh are still the two localities with the lowest purchasing prices in the region, at 62,000 VND/kg.

Pig price in Central Highlands

The Central Highlands region also has stable prices, fluctuating between 60,000 and 63,000 VND/kg.

Notably, Thanh Hoa and Nghe An are recording the highest prices in the region, reaching 63,000 VND/kg.

Meanwhile, a lower price, VND62,000/kg, was recorded in Ha Tinh, Quang Binh and Lam Dong provinces.

Pig price in the South

The South has not had any new adjustments this morning, with prices ranging from 60,000 to 63,000 VND/kg.

Can Tho and An Giang currently have the highest prices in the region, reaching 63,000 VND/kg.

On the contrary, the lowest price in the region is 60,000 VND/kg, recorded in the provinces of Dong Nai, Vung Tau, Hau Giang, Bac Lieu, Tra Vinh and Soc Trang.

Forecast of pig price in the coming time

Pig prices are expected to increase slightly in some areas next week, especially in large cities and places with high demand. Experts say demand is increasing as processing plants and wholesale markets prepare for the Lunar New Year.

Feed prices and input costs may impact pig prices in the coming period. The high feed prices will put farmers in a situation where they need to adjust their selling prices to ensure profits.

African swine fever is currently well controlled, creating favorable conditions for supply. However, if the supply shows signs of decreasing, the price of live pigs will tend to increase in the coming time.

In Hai Duong, the autumn vaccination campaign for livestock has reached over 90% of the plan, exceeding the expectation by about 10%. Hai Duong Newspaper reported that as of November 10, the whole province had deployed 3.3 million doses of avian influenza vaccine, 115,970 doses of swine fever vaccine, 89,170 doses of distemper vaccine for pigs, 8,630 doses of anthrax vaccine for buffaloes and cows, and over 34,000 doses of rabies vaccine for dogs.

Notably, in this year's vaccination campaign, many localities in Hai Duong have proactively purchased African swine fever vaccines for their pig herds. To date, Binh Giang, Thanh Ha districts, Kinh Mon town and Hai Duong city have administered more than 14,580 doses of African swine fever vaccine. Kim Thanh, Gia Loc, Cam Giang and Thanh Mien districts have also completed procedures to begin vaccination soon.

Although dangerous diseases such as African swine fever, foot-and-mouth disease, blue ear disease and avian influenza in Hai Duong are being well controlled, the provincial Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine still recommends that localities should not be subjective. Maintaining hygiene in barns and regular disease prevention is necessary to minimize the risk of disease outbreaks.

Authorities in Hai Duong said the current stock of vaccines is sufficient to meet demand from now until the end of the year. Localities will continue to review and propose additional supplies if necessary to ensure sufficient vaccines for newly imported livestock.

The vaccination campaign is helping Hai Duong limit the risk of disease outbreaks, especially during the transitional season at the end of the year. The government and related agencies are making efforts to implement measures to support livestock farmers, helping to ensure the stability of livestock herds in the area.
